The Waterloo Bucks (39-23, 16-12) used a thrilling late-inning rally to steal game one of Sunday’s doubleheader from the Eau Claire Express (12-17) with a 4-1 final. Trailing 1-0 in the seventh, Waterloo tied the game on a Luke Fennelly (1-for-3, 2B, RBI) two-out RBI double. Nolan Santos earned the win with 3.0 scoreless relief innings, striking out three while scattering two hits and a walk. Waterloo starter Michael Mitchell took a no-hitter into the fifth, allowing just one run on a pair of hits and three walks over 5.o frames with one strikeout.

Tied at one in the eighth with Sam Biller (0-for-3, R, SB) at second as the tiebreaker runner, Waterloo’s speedy outfielder swiped third with one out then scored on a Paul Steffensen (1-for-4, R, RBI, 2 SB) RBI single grounded through the left side. Steffensen stole second and third, scoring as his second steal drew an errant throw into left. Two batters later, Max Jung-Goldberg (2-for-4, R), Mike Campagna (1-for-4) and Josh Patrick (1-for-1, R, RBI) cracked three straight singles with the latter plating MJG to give Waterloo their decisive 4-1 lead.
