The 2021 Waterloo Bucks season has come to a close in the Great Plains Championship Game with a 6-3 loss to the St. Cloud Rox. Waterloo finishes the year with a 44-26 record, winning both the First and Second Half Great Plains-East Championship along with earning their first postseason victories since 2002 in the Subdivisional Series.
St. Cloud opened the scoring in the first with a run, then the Bucks responded by loading the bases for Sam Biller (0-for-3, BB, HBP, RBI) who was hit by a pitch to tie the game. The Rox plated two in the second and fourth innings to make it 5-1.
Anthony Pron gave the Bucks 3.0 strong innings of relief to keep things close, allowing just one run on a hit and a walk while striking out two.
Josh Patrick (0-for-1, 2 BB, HBP, R, SB) was hit by a pitch to open the seventh followed by a massive two-run home run off the bat of Tavan Shahidi (2-for-4, R, HR, 2 RBI), cutting the deficit to two. St. Cloud responded with one more in the home half.
Eli Emerson fired a scoreless eighth, working around a hit batsman.
