DULUTH, Minn. – As fans got out of their seats for the seventh inning stretch in Duluth it was looking likely for the home fans to go home upset. The Bucks were leading on the scoreboard and outhitting the Huskies. But that’s when the rally caps worked for the home team.

For the second consecutive night, the Waterloo Bucks (2-8) jumped out to an early lead over the Duluth Huskies (7-3). A second-inning RBI fielder’s choice and a bases-loaded walk gave the visitors a 2-0 lead on the scoreboard.

Duluth would scrape one back in the bottom of the fourth, but it was almost immediately countered by a Tai Walton solo shot to left-centerfield for his first of the season that gave the Bucks the two-run lead back.

Unfortunately for the Bucks, that’s all the offense they would be able to muster. Defensively the Bucks were able to hold on, until “Take Me Out to The Ballgame” played over the Wade Stadium speakers.

A walk followed by back-to-back base hits and a steal of home plate rallied the home team for a four-run seventh. They would follow that up with a two-run eighth inning to secure the ballgame 8-3.

The Bucks would load the bases in the eighth and get two runners on in the ninth but couldn’t score either inning as they were swept by the Duluth Huskies falling back to five games behind the now subdivision leading Huskies.

After a short two-game road trip the Bucks return home to take on the Willmar Stingers for a two-game series. First pitch Friday is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at waterloobucks.com. If you can’t make it out to Riverfront Stadium you can stream the game for free on Watch NWL.
