Waterloo, IA – The Waterloo Bucks (18–21) got their fifth win in six games on Saturday night, beating the first half champion Eau Claire Express (24-15), 9–6.
The game was tied headed to the bottom of the third, but the Bucks went on to score eight unanswered runs to pull far ahead. The Express found their offense in the final three innings, going on their own scoring run with five runs, but it was too little too late as the Bucks came away with the win.
Aaron Savary got his first win of the season on the mound for Waterloo, pitching 5.0 innings while only giving up one run and striking out four batters.
Marcus Heusohn had another big day for the Bucks at the plate, going 3-for-5 while batting in three runs. Additionally, Cole Hill performed well at the leadoff spot in the lineup, going 2-for-5 with an RBI while scoring two runs.
The Bucks will aim for the series sweep on Sunday as they take on the Express in game two of the series. First pitch for that game is scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
