Waterloo, IA – The Waterloo Bucks (19–21) scored three runs in the bottom of the ninth on Sunday to seal a series sweep over the Eau Claire Express (24–16) with a 4–3 walk-off win.
The Bucks scored the only run of the through the first seven innings, but the Express put up three runs in the top of the eighth to take their first lead of the game.
The Bucks’ first run of the ninth came on an error from Express pitcher Tayler Montiel following a sac bunt from infielder Brodie Kresser. The tying-run came in on another error by infielder DJ Massey on a batted ball from Ben Wilmes, while the game-winning run scored on an RBI-single to first base from Brandon Fish.
Kresser scored the final run for the Bucks on the single from Fish, sliding into home right under the tag from Express catcher Camden Ross.
Bucks starting pitcher Ethan Bell made his first Northwoods League start and did not disappoint, not giving up a single run through through six innings of work,
The Bucks have now won six of their last seven games and they will head back out on the road to play the Express in another two-game series. The first game is scheduled for a 6:35 p.m. first pitch on Monday.
