Waterloo, IA – The Waterloo Bucks (25–24) dropped their series opener to the Eau Claire Express (26–23) on Tuesday night, 10–4.
Both teams started off quiet at the dish for the first three innings. In the fourth inning, the Express got the scoring started with three runs in the frame, then they added some insurance with a five-run sixth inning. The Bucks could only manage four runs in the final three innings, falling well short in their comeback efforts.
One bright spot for the Bucks was catcher Ben Gallaher, who recorded two RBIs across four plate appearances. Both outfielder Cole Hill and infielder Greg Nichols performed well for the Bucks as they each got two hits and scored a run.
The Bucks will aim for the series split on Wednesday evening as they play the Express again. First pitch for that game is scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
