Waterloo, IA – The Waterloo Bucks defeated the Eau Claire Express, 7-6, in the first game of the six-game homestand.
The Bucks started down in the game as the Express scored the first run in the top of the first inning with an RBI single from infielder Ethan Farris. Waterloo answered back from being down in the bottom of the second inning by scoring two on some fielding blunders by the Express and a single from second baseman Evan Morrison.
Again in the bottom of the fourth and fifth innings, the Bucks bats kept adding on. With three runs in the fourth inning from two different RBI doubles from Evan Morrison and right fielder Ben Wilmes and an RBI single from center fielder Lucas Moore, who also continued his hitting streak with this single. The two runs that scored in the fifth inning, were because of an error from Brady Blake and Colton Wemhoff and the Bucks hit their run total of seven.
Headed into the ninth, Waterloo led 7-3, but Eau Claire wanted to keep it interesting. By scoring three runs making the contest within one and having two runners on the base paths, pitcher Sam Skarich shut the door to finish game one.
