Waterloo, IA – The Waterloo Bucks faced the Duluth Huskies and fought to the final pitch, but couldn’t get the best of the Huskies as they fell 13-12.
Waterloo scored two runs over the first two innings from an RBI single from Ben Wilmess (1st) and a fielder’s choice from Kooper Schulte. Schulte ended the day with four RBIs in his four at-bats. In the third and fourth innings, the Bucks combined for ten runs while batting around in both. By playing station-to-station baseball with help from the base on balls, it was a 12-0 lead headed into the fifth.
Duluth fought back by scoring five in the top of the fifth, four in the top of the sixth, and finally four in the top of the ninth inning.
The Bucks face the Huskies again tomorrow for their final game of the six-game homestand. Catch the first pitch tomorrow at 6:35 PM.
