Eau Claire WI – The Waterloo Bucks received their first road loss of the season with a 4-2 fall to the Eau Claire Express at Carson Park on Saturday, June 7.

For the first time in 2025, the Bucks end the day on a two-game losing streak and in second place in the Great Plains East Division. Although they got the tying run on base in the final inning, they ultimately fell two runs short of victory.Ethan Rossi picked up Waterloo’s only RBI with a sac-fly in the ninth inning that scored Marcus Heusohn.

With the Express ahead 2-0, Will Johnson recorded the only extra-base hit of the day for the Bucks with a double in the seventh inning. Later in the frame, Johnson scored Waterloo’s first run of the evening, cutting the deficit to just one.

Despite a combined three innings of scoreless work for relivers Luke Riggs and Tyler Glowacki, the Bucks still surrendered four earned runs to Eau Claire on the night, a sum Waterloo’s offense could not top. Alex Alberico produced 4.1 IP, giving up a pair of runs and striking out four.

Johnson ended the contest as the only Buck to reach base safely three times. Brody Leyboldt drew two walks, and Heusohn was the only other Waterloo player to get aboard twice with a single and a walk. Rossi, Mack Brousseau, and Larry Edwards added the only other hits for the Bucks as they finished the game with five knocks.

The Bucks will try to snap their two-game skid tomorrow against the Express at Carson Park. First pitch is slated for 2:05 pm (CDT).
