THUNDER BAY- It was like déjà vu from Thursday’s match-up for the Waterloo Bucks Friday night, which unfortunately went in favor of the Thunder Bay Border Cats who topped the Bucks 4-3 in the ninth inning.
After winning in the ninth inning the night before, 4-3, the game went in the opposite direction for the Bucks when the Border Cats scored two in the bottom of the ninth Friday to win by the same margin.
The Bucks were scoreless until the sixth inning, when Outfielder Willie Argo stepped up to the plate and cranked a double bringing in Zach McCool and Michael Giller. With two runs up on the board, the game was tied up until the eighth. Jason Krizan stole twice in the eighth and scored on an error which brought the Bucks ahead of the Border Cats by one.
But the damage would be done in the bottom of the ninth inning. Closer Tim Ryan took the mound and the loss, giving up the losing runs in the bottom of the ninth as the Border Cats brought one run in, then scoring on a fielding error, winning the game.
