Waterloo, IA – The Waterloo Bucks came out and swept the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters in two games, winning another nail-biter by a score of 8-7.
The bats of the Bucks start as hot as they ever have, by scoring six runs in the first two innings, with big hits from Larry Edwards Jr (1st inning: RBI Single), Chase Beattie (2nd inning: Two-Run Homerun), and Matt Martinez (2nd inning: RBI Double). The Rafters only scored two runs in the first third thanks to great by-committee pitching from Evan Morrison and Kyle Beaty.
In the seventh inning for two days in a row, the Rafters bat around in the order and put up a five-spot to even the game back the seven all.
Outfielder Ben Wilmes came in clutch with an RBI double that scored Jae Williams to get the Bucks back on top in the bottom of the seventh. This double would be Wilmes’ third hit of the day and his sixth in two games against the Rapids.
The bullpen duo of Sam Hart and Sam Skarich came in to close out the ballgame yet again and allow the Bucks to walk away with their 15th victory of the first half.
Waterloo faces Rochester tomorrow for game one of a home-and-away series with the first pitch scheduled for 6:35 PM.
