Waterloo, IA – The Waterloo Bucks played on July 4th with a 13-3 victory over the Kenosha Kingfish.

The fireworks were scheduled to go off after the game ended, but the Bucks offense didn’t want to wait that long, so they decided to like off some of their own by scoring nine runs in the first two innings. The big three-run blast came from Ben Wilmes at the top of the first which was only the beginning of an avalanche of offense from the boys in red, white, and blue. A two-RBI double from Ian Halverson in the second was one of the biggest hits in the game to that point. Before the end of the second inning, the Bucks had eight hits from six players (Larry Edwards Jr, Ben Wilmes, Marcus Heusohn, Evan Morrison, Ian Halverson, and Luke Finn).

Kenosha had two of their runs after the second, but with a seven-run lead for the Waterloo, the game always seemed out of reach.

Headed into the bottom of the fifth inning, the bats had another hit parade for Interim Field Manager Jack Nathan and his squad as the Bucks sent 10 batters to the plate and scored four runs on three hits. Luke Finn had a big two-rbi single in this inning which brought his runs batted in total to three on the game, after his one-run triple in the bottom of the first. Larry Edwards Jr also had another incredible day in the box, with four hits in five at-bats, and collecting seven hits in his last ten plate appearances.

Waterloo hosts the Duluth Huskies tomorrow for the start of a two-game home series to finish off the homestand, with the first pitch at Riverfront Stadium set for 6:35 PM.
