St. Cloud, MN – On Sunday, July 27, the Waterloo Bucks lost their third straight game as they fell to the St. Cloud Rox 14-1 at Joe Faber Field.
The Bucks fell behind early as the Rox put up three runs in the bottom of the first and seven in the bottom of the second to trail 10-0 after the first two frames. St. Cloud’s seven-run second tied a record for the largest inning Waterloo has surrendered to an opponent in a single inning all season.
In the top of the third, the Bucks responded with a Cole Smith opposite-field single that plated Marcus Heusohn to cut the deficit to nine. Smith’s RBI gave the team its only run for the duration of the contest.
Owen Ross roped the lone extra-base hit of the day for Waterloo with a double in the top of the second. Ten of his 27 hits for the season have gone for extra-bases. Jake Bechtel, Larry Edwards and Smith all reached base multiple times with one hit and one walk each.
Due to subpar weather conditions, the game came to a halt with one out in the top of the eighth. This contest concludes the season series between the Bucks and the Rox with Waterloo dropping all four games to St. Cloud.
With his walk in the third, Edwards extended his on-base streak to 21 games.
After a day off tomorrow, the Bucks will continue their road trip at Carson Park where they will play the Eau Claire Express on Wednesday, July 29, at 6:35 pm (CDT).
