La Crosse, WI – La Crosse uses a late offensive spark and great bullpen pitching to edge out Waterloo late in the contest Wednesday night with a score of 5-2.

After cruising through three innings, Logger’s hurler AJ Curtis gave up the first runs of the ballgame in the top of the fourth. Caleb Seibers walked to lead off and moved up to second on a balk. Jake Miller beat out a bunt to put two on for Kendric Sorgius who lifted a sacrifice fly to right to put the Bucks on top 1-0. Now with two gone in the inning and Miller at third, Collin Brightwell legged out an infield single that allowed the run to score to push the lead to 2-0.

In the bottom of the fifth, La Crosse evened the tally. Gunnar Peskover doubled into right for the first hit of the game, then Kelsen Johnson worked a walk. One batter later, Jake Redding clubbed a double down the left field line to plate both runners to tie the game 2-2.

In the fifth, Peyton Ells came on to take the mound for the Loggers. He was excellent in relief as he tossed four shutout innings and struck out six to keep Waterloo quiet.

In the home half of the sixth, Eli Small doubled to lead off the frame, then later scored on a sacrifice fly to jump the Loggers in front 3-2.

In the last of the seventh, La Crosse added on. Joey Senstock doubled, then with two outs, Small beat out an infield single that brought the run in from third to make it 4-2. One batter later, Maxwell Kalk booped a single to center to plate Small to make it 5-2, the score that would be the final.

With the loss, the Bucks go to 6-4 on the season and 4-2 on the road trip. Waterloo closes out the seven day trip with a matchup against the Honkers. First pitch in Rochester is slated for Thursday at 6:35 pm. Both starters are TBD.
