Rochester, MN – Rochester scored six of their seven total runs in the seventh and eighth innings with a four-run frame in the eighth to rally back and steal game two of the series 7-5 to complete the sweep for the Honkers. 

After being shut out in game one, Waterloo started the scoring early in the top of the first on Tuesday. After reaching on a fielder’s choice, Caleb Parker moved up to third on a Mitchell Iliff double, then scored on a Nico Newhan RBI groundout to put the Bucks ahead 1-0. 

In the top of the second inning, Waterloo extended its lead. With one out, Collin Brightwell singled up the middle, then moved up to second on a walk. Up with two down, Mycah Jordan pulled a single to left to plate Brightwell to make it 2-0. 

In the bottom of the second, the Honkers got on the board. Nick Bowron launched a solo home run to right to cut the lead to 2-1. 

In the top of the fourth, Brightwell singled, and Bubby Dosztan-Campbell walked. Both runners moved up on a double steal, then Brightwell came home on a fielder’s choice to make it 3-1. One batter later, Bubby scored on a wild pitch to make it 4-1. Next up, Caleb Parker laced a single up the middle to grow the lead to 5-1. 

In the bottom of the seventh, Rochester began the comeback. A walk, single, and a walk loaded the bases for Nolan Ganter. He ripped a single down the left field line to bring in a pair of runs to cut the lead in half 5-3. 

In the bottom of the eight, the Honkers took the lead. The bases got loaded, then two runs were forced home on consecutive batters who were hit by a pitch that knotted the score at 5-5. After a pitching change, back-to-back walks pushed in two more runs that put the Honkers on top 7-5. 

In the top of the ninth, Trent Adrian completed a six out save to beat Waterloo and complete the sweep of the Bucks. 4

With the loss, Waterloo goes to 9-11 on the season and 0-4 on the year against the Honkers. The Bucks hit the road for Thunder Bay, Ontario for four games in three days against the Border Cats. Game one is slated for 6:35 EST. Both starters in the game are TBD.
