Waterloo, IA – The Bucks take down the Loggers in their home finale thanks to seven masterful innings from Nate Berzonski, who got the win, then two hits and two more RBIs for Caleb Parker, as well as two RBIs from Jake Slade, Caleb Seibers, and Anthony Massa as Waterloo won the final game at Riverfront Stadium 10-2 over La Crosse.
After winning big in the series opener on Wednesday night, La Crosse grabbed the advantage in the top of the first inning on Thursday. Lukas Buckner led off the game with a single, then moved up on an error and a fly ball to score on a wild pitch to give the Loggers a 1-0 lead.
That was all La Crosse got against Bucks starter Nate Berzonski. The right-hander was excellent and tossed seven strong innings and struck out six en route to his fourth win of the year.
In the bottom of the first inning, Waterloo made things even. Larry Edwards singled to lead off the inning, then moved up to third on a steal and a throwing error. He scored two batters later on an RBI groundout from Caleb Parker to knot the score at one apiece.
In the bottom of the fourth, the Bucks took the lead. Bubby Dosztan-Campbell and Jack Coluzzi both singled with one out, then moved up on a wild pitch. During the next at-bat, Bubby scored on a wild pitch to give Waterloo a 2-1 edge. After a walk, Caleb Seibers lifted a sacrifice fly to make it 3-1.
In the bottom of the fifth, the Bucks pulled away. Collin Brightwell roped a single, then stole second and third in front of Parker who lined an RBI single up the middle to push the cushion to 4-1. After a walk, Anthony Massa pulled a single to left to bring home both runs to grow the lead to 6-1. Lastly, Seibers delivered a base hit to bring Massa in to score to make it 7-1.
In the bottom of the sixth, Waterloo tacked on two more. Tayvon Homolar singled and Larry Edwards walked before Jake Slade rocketed a double off the wall in left to plate the pair to pad the lead to 9-1.
Both teams scored one more run before Jackson Horras came out of the bullpen to get the last three outs in the top of the ninth and seal the deal on a 10-2 Bucks win over the Loggers.
With the win, Waterloo goes to 30-37 on the season and 16-17 in the second half. The Bucks wrapped up the home portion of their schedule on Thursday night, and head to Eau Claire, Wisconsin for the final two games of the 2026 season. George Jewell makes his first start with Waterloo opposite Imarion Stanberry of the Express.
