The Kalamazoo Growlers, Willmar Stingers and Duluth Huskies continued their success to win their second game in the playoffs ending their opponents season. The Growlers are making their statement in the postseason with a total of 22 hits in the past two days. The Rafters will have to rally back tomorrow in order to stay in the playoffs.
Kalamazoo Growlers 9, Traverse City Pit Spitters 5
The Kalamazoo Growlers defeated the Traverse City Pit Spitters 9-5 to knock the Pit Spitters out of the playoffs. The Growlers struck first with an RBI single by Alex Calarco (Northwestern University) in the top of the first inning. Calarco had two hits with two RBI. To take the lead the Growlers scored four more runs in the top of the sixth inning. Ryan Dykstra (Oakland University) and Anthony Stephan (University of Virginia) both had singles to drive in runs. Banks Tolley (University of Mississippi) ended the inning with a two run double to left field. Dykstra and Stephan both had two hits with three RBI combined. Tolley led the team with a double, triple and four RBI. Tanner Knapp (Ball State University) started the game throwing five innings with one strikeout to earn the win on the mound.
Wausau Woodchucks 11, Wisconsin Rapids Rafters 1
The Wausau Woodchucks bounced back to take down the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters 11-1. The Woodchucks scored four runs in the second inning with a home run by Drew Stengren (Central Michigan University), RBI double by Chase Hug (University of Evansville) and RBI single by Eli Kligman (Wake Forest University). Hug led the team with three hits including a double, home run and three RBI. Kligman reached base four times with two hits and two walks driving in one run. Nick Marshall (West Texas A&M University) had a great night on the mound throwing the first 6.2 innings with 12 strikeouts giving up only three hits. Aidan Corn (Pasco-Hernando State College) came into the game to throw the next 1.1 innings with one strikeouts giving up no hits.
Duluth Huskies 4, Eau Claire Express 3
The Duluth Huskies continue their success to take their second win against the Eau Claire Express 4-3. Jack Painter (California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly) led the team with two hits including a double, home run, walk and two RBI. Jeremy Keller (Chico State) drove in the final run of the game with a single to the shot stop. Keller had three hits with one RBI on the night. Cam Frederick (University Nebraska Omaha) contributed to the offense reaching base twice with a double scoring once. Jake Combs (Southern Illinois University) earned the win on the mound throwing the first six innings with four strikeouts allowing only one run to score. Isaac Rohde (Clarke University) came into the game to throw 2.1 innings with four strikeouts giving up no hits.
Willmar Stingers 3, St.Cloud Rox 2
The Willmar Stingers won their second game against the St.Cloud Rox 3-2. The Stingers rallied back to score two runs in the sixth inning with a single by Kyle Payne (Northwest Nazarene University) and an RBI walk by Nick Terrell (Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville). Payne had one walk with a stolen base scoring once as he reached base. Terrell had two walks to reach base with one RBI. Drey Dirksen (Augustana University) led the team with two hits including a single and double. Jack Habeck (St. Cloud State University) was the starting pitcher throwing six innings with six strikeouts allowing only one run to score. Joe Ihli (Northwest Nazarene University) closed the team, throwing the last two innings with one strikeout giving up no hits.
