The Wisconsin Woodchucks have strengthened their middle infield with the recent signings of infielders Joey Hainsfurther and Kale Kiser. Hainsfurther and Kiser are true freshmen at Baylor University and the University of Nebraska, respectively.

The La Crosse Loggers continued their roster-building process with a pair of signings from a familiar friend in the San Diego State University program. RHP Addison Reed and OF/IF Brandon Meredith will be joining the Lumbermen for the 2009 campaign.

The Madison Mallards newest roster addition, St. John’s junior outfielder Jimmy Parque, comes to Madison with hopes of trying to differentiate himself from two other rather athletic and successful people named “Jim” in his family. The first “Jim,” his father, was a member of the last Terra Nova Central Coast (CA) baseball championship team in 1980 and was named the team’s MVP. The other “Jim,” his second-cousin, pitched for the Chicago White Sox and Tampa Bay Devil Rays from 1998 to 2003 after being selected in the first round of the 1997 supplemental draft from UCLA. The former Bruin enjoyed his best season in the big leagues in 2000, posting a 12-6 record before a torn labrum ended his year.

The Waterloo Bucks Baseball Club announced the signing of Des Moines Area Community College middle infielder Tyler Robbins. Robbins, a 6'0", 180-pound sophomore, recently signed a letter of intent to continue his collegiate baseball career with Dallas Baptist. Robbins will join fellow Bucks' infielder Ryan Goins on the Dallas Baptist roster in the fall of 2009.

University of North Florida red-shirt freshman pitcher Andrew Karmeris has signed with the Madison Mallards and comes from a program with strong ties to the Northwoods League. UNF Assistant Coach Greg Labbe, who managed the Rochester Honkers from 2005-07 ranks sixth all-time in NWL regular season wins with 144 (placing him only seven victories behind Mallards Field Manager C.J. Thieleke), figures to have a huge role in Karmeris’ transition to Madison this summer.

The Rochester Honkers Baseball Club announced the signing of Drew Beuerlein, a 6 foot, 195-pound junior catcher from the University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV).

The Wisconsin Woodchucks have added three familiar faces to their roster for the 2009 season. Carson Vitale, Terrence Jackson, and Chris Slater played for the Woodchucks in 2008 and will be returning to Wausau this summer.
