Nick Studdard

Field Manager

Nick Studdard will be entering his fourth season with the Rox in 2024, first as field manager. Studdard has been a part of three historic seasons with the Rox, winning 50 games in back-to-back seasons, first time in Northwoods League history that has happened. He has also been apart of two Great Plains Champion teams that has hosted three Northwoods League Championship. He has also been selected to be a part of the Great Plains All-Star coaching staff in back-to-back years (2021 and 2022). Nick Studdard currently serves as the assistant coach at Bowling Green. Studdard previously served as an undergraduate assistant coach at Southern University. Studdard also deals with the daily activities of the clubhouse and helps within the program as needed.  Studdard started his collegiate playing career as a catcher at Southern University from 2016-2017. Studdard graduated from Grace King High School in Metairie, Louisiana in May of 2016. Studdard is the son of Dan and Cynthia Studdard. His siblings are Jonathan, Danielle, Erin, and Emily. Studdard was born in Plano, TX and currently resides in Bowling Green, OH.

Evan Johnson

Pitching Coach

Evan Johnson is returning to the Rox, but this time as a coach and not a player. As a former Rox player, he was the teams’ Pitcher of the Year in 2018. That season, we went 5-0 in 14 games with a 1.80 ERA, striking out 57 batters over 60 innings pitched.  

Johnson was an undrafted free agent in 2019 with the Seattle Mariners. He played in their minor league system until 2022 where he did make it to AAA and played for the Tacoma Rainiers. Over his minor league career, he had a 7-5 record with a 4.50 ERA. He played in 61 games and pitched 122 innings with 150 strikeouts.

Ricky Ramirez

Assistant Coach

Ramirez returns to the Rox, this time as a coach. He played for the Rox in 2016 where he appeared in 63 games and had a .298 batting average and a .372 on-base percentage. He also had 16 doubles, four home runs, 42 runs batted in, and four stolen bases.
