Five questions with former Bucks All-Star and current New York Mets minor leaguer Scott Shaw.
1. Besides being a pro baseball player, what would be your dream job?
I think that my dream job would be to be a Big League Manager. Being around baseball so much kind of just keeps pulling me in. I like to analyze the game and think about it a lot. Being a manager would keep me on my toes and I would appreciate the delicacies that come with it.
If you’re looking for something totally non-baseball, I would love to be the owner of a restaurant/bar in downtown Chicago or New York City. A big-time place, not "just another bar." I love to prepare food and would definitely have a big say in what is on the menu.
2. What’s one thing you learned while playing for the Bucks?
I learned a lot about how the game of baseball really is. Honestly, the Northwoods League is so similar to professional baseball and you really get a sense of the similarities when you are there. It wasn’t until pro ball that I looked back and realized how much better off i was then a lot of others because I experience Northwoods League baseball. I was very prepared for the lifestyle of it. I am very appreciative of those opportunities.
3. Who is the most underrated player in baseball?
Brandon Inge.
4. What is your favorite comfort food?
I’m a sucker for biscuits and gravy. And my grandmother’s special….biscuits and cocoa gravy. Don’t bash it until you have experienced it. I’m telling you!!!!
5. How many pillows are on your bed?
Well when I’m in season I sleep on a lot of different hotel beds so it changes quite a bit depending on the hotel. But on my bed at home I like 3-4. Even if they aren’t under my head I just like them scattered around the sleeping area. I feel more comfortable.
