Saturday’s Northwoods League slate featured a doubleheader between the La Crosse Steam and the Madison Night Mares. Madison extends their win streak to five.

Madison 9, La Crosse 8

The Madison Night Mares score five in the seventh to walk it off over the La Crosse Steam 9-8. Kayla Thomas (Campbell University) went 1-for-4 with a walk-off solo home run. Tia Durst (Lake Land) went 1-for-3 scoring once with a three-run triple in the seventh, collecting four RBI on the day. Danielle Lucey (University of Wisconsin) went 1-for-3 scoring once with two stolen bases. Rachel Mori (William Peace University) went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one stolen base. Avary Makarewicz (Eastern Illinois University) went 3-for-5 scoring once with a double and two RBI. Grace Frechette (St. Cloud State University) went 4-for-5 scoring twice with three doubles and one RBI. Andrea Jaskowiak (University of Iowa) earned the win throwing four innings with five strikeouts allowing six hits and one run. 

Madison 12, La Crosse 8

The Madison Night Mares used a monster second inning scoring nine runs to beat the La Crosse Steam 11-8. Kayla Thomas (Campbell University) had a day at the plate going 1-for-4 with her second solo home run. Lexie Shaver (Salt Lake Community College) went 2-for-4 scoring once with a pair of doubles, one stolen base, and two RBI. Carly Oliver (University of the Cumberlands) was perfect at the plate going 2-for-2 scoring twice with a triple and one RBI. Calli Janik (Mount Mercy University) went 4-for-4 with a two-run home run. Grace Frechette (St. Cloud State University) went 1-for-3 scoring twice with a double and one RBI. Holly Lowenberg (Bryant and Stratton College) earned the win throwing three innings with three strikeouts allowing five hits, six walks, and two runs.
