For the second time this season, Madison Mallards righty Sterling Sharp earned pitcher of the night in the Northwoods League. Sharp, a freshman from Eastern Michigan, was dominant over six innings against Battle Creek in a 1-0 win.
Sharp outdueled Battle Creek's Kyle Slack as he threw six shutout innings with nine strikeouts while allowing just two hits and walking none.
He improves to 2-1 with a 4.26 ERA after having a rough first start. Since then, he's gone 11 scoreless innings and struck out 14 of the 40 batters he's faced. He's also walked just one batter and given up five hits over that span.
