Wisconsin Rapids right-hander Zach Jackson needed just 11 pitches to strike out the side in the first inning against defending champions Madison, setting the tone for the next five innings. The Northwoods League Pitcher of the Night, Jackson, a sophomore from Arkansas, struck out 12 in an impressive performance.
The Rafter walked two and gave up five hits and three runs- his only blemishes were a pair of home runs, a solo shot in the first and a two-run blast in the fourth. However, those were his only mistakes as Jackson sat down 12 Mallards on strikes in his first start in a Wisconsin Rapids uniform.
