Friday's Pitcher of the Night is Kalamazoo righthander Ryan Smoyer. Smoyer, a sophomore from Notre Dame, turned in a shutout and earned the nightly honor for the third time (July 7th and 20th).
He went nine innings for his longest start of the season and allowed just four hits in the complete game shutout. He struck out nine and didn't issue a walk. It was his eighth quality start of the summer as he improved to 7-1 with a 1.86 ERA on the season. The versatile pitcher also has two saves and has proven himself as one of the best pitchers in the Northwoods.
