Monday's Pitcher of the Night is Mankato closer Tyler Mark, a sophomore from Cal State Dominguez. Mark entered having not allowed a run over 27.2 innings in the regular season, and he escaped an inherited-bases loaded jam with a strikeout en route to his 10th save, securing a series-opening MoonDogs win.
Mark got a crucial strikeout with two outs and the bases full of Stingers in the eighth, keeping Mankato's three-run lead. He then retired the side in order in the ninth, including a strikeout of Willmar slugger Nick Rivera- who went deep earlier in the game- to end it. Mark now has thrown 30 scoreless innings on the summer- including a 1-2-3 inning in the Big League Dreams Showcase. He posted a 0.87 WHIP in the regular season with 45 strikeouts to just 10 walks.
