The St. Cloud Rox won their seventh game in a row and the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters won their eighth as they both hold two game leads in their divisions. The Bismarck Larks moved into a four-team tie at 6-5 in the north as they recorded their first shutout victory.

Fond du Lac 4, Rockford 11

The Rockford Rivets scored two four-run innings which led to their 11-4 victory over the Fond du Lac Dock Spiders. Andrew Bullock (Western Carolina) drove in his ninth of the season when he hit a double to put the Spiders on the board in the first. The Rivets then scored four unearned runs in the bottom half which included an error by the first basemen, second basemen and JC DeMuri (Quincy) hit a double to bring in three. The Spiders answered in the second from a double by Joe Breaux (McClennan CC), but the Rivets got the run back in the third. Rockford tacked on one in the fifth and then exploded for four more in the sixth which included two more errors by the Spiders. The Rivets added one more in the eighth for good measure while their bullpen threw three scoreless on only one hit and one walk to end the game.

Lakeshore 5, Green Bay 3

The Lakeshore Chinooks scored early and didn’t give up the lead as they defeated the Green Bay Bullfrogs tonight 5-3. Lakeshore put up a run first in the top of the opening inning when Zach Biermann (Polk State) hit an RBI single for his 15th RBI of the season. The Chinooks would then score again in the third from a fielder’s choice. They tacked on three insurance runs in the seventh including one from a bases loaded walk and two from a wild pitch. The Frogs wouldn’t give up as they got two in the bottom half from an RBI double by Alex Pener (Scottsdale CC) and a fielder’s choice from Willie Bourbon (Northwestern). The Frogs scored for the final time in the eighth when Kyle Benyo (Youngstown) drove in a run. Brendan McGuigan (Richmond) pitched 1.1 innings and picked up his first save of the season.

Willmar 8, Duluth 0

The Willmar Stingers used four pitchers to throw nine innings of shutout baseball to defeat the Duluth Huskies 8-0. The Stingers scored right away in the top of the first with two outs when Rob Emery (San Francisco) drove in a run from a single. The only extra base hit for the Huskies came in the second when Luke Roskam (Nebraska) hit a double and was stranded. The Stingers added three more in the third when Marcus Still (New Mexico State) scored an unearned run, Emery scored from a single and Eddie Estrada (Minnesota) drove in one from a single. Willmar scored another in the seventh and three more in the ninth when Still scored his second of the game and Emery scored his third. Blake Stockert (North Dakota State) got the start for the Stingers, threw six scoreless innings, only allowed four hits and struck out four for the win.

Wisconsin 3, Madison 11

The Madison Mallards put together 15 hits which resulted in an 11-3 victory over the Wisconsin Woodchucks. Madison opened the bottom of the first with a three-run home run by Doran Turchin (Illinois). The Mallards would score four more in the second which included Turchin scoring his second run of the game from a two RBI single by Brock Weimer (SIUE). Stevie Mangrum (Virginia Tech) hit his sixth home run of the season in the fourth to put up two for the Chucks, but Turchin hit another home run and an RBI single brought in the second of the inning. The Chucks and Mallards traded single runs in the fifth, but the Mallards added number 11 in the sixth. Madison’s bullpen came on for three scoreless to end the game and shut the door on the Chucks.  

Waterloo 1, St. Cloud 8

 The St. Cloud Rox continues to stay hot as they only give up one run in the ninth in their 8-1 victory over the Waterloo Bucks. The Rox went off for four in the second which started when Michael Busch (North Carolina) drove in his first RBI of the season from a single. St. Cloud then got their next three from all singles. Three more came from a Cameron Blaquiere (Western Carolina) double and one from a wild pitch in the seventh. The Bucks only run of the game came in the top of the ninth when Jay Schuyler (San Diego) hit an RBI single. Aaron Rozek (Minnesota State-Mankato) improved his record to 2-0 after throwing six, only two hits and striking out a club record 13.

Thunder Bay 2, Mankato 7

The Mankato MoonDogs are over .500 as they scored four late to defeat the Thunder Bay Border Cats 7-2. Thunder Bay was the first on the board when Austin Ledin (Bethel) hit a solo home run in the third. The MoonDogs then took the lead in the bottom of the fourth with three runs and never looked back. The Border Cats would get one more in the sixth, but Ethan Valdez (Nichols State) hit a solo home run in the seventh and a Zac Wiley (Bellarmine) solo shot would ignite a three-run eighth. Reliever Naithen Dewsnap (Cal State Bakersfield) pitched 1.1 innings and shut the door on the Border Cats to seal the game. Brett Newberg (Austin Peay) picked up the win for the MoonDogs after throwing 7.2 and only allowing the two runs on eight hits while striking out six.  

Bismarck 8, Eau Claire 6

The Bismarck Larks scored in eight out of nine innings to hold off the Eau Claire express in an 8-6 win. The Larks scored first in the opening inning with two outs when Noah Sadler (Illinois State) knocked in an RBI single. An error by the catcher brought in another in the third, a sac fly in the fourth and fifth. The Express reached the scoreboard in the bottom of the fifth when Taylor Field (Winona) drove in an unearned run from a double. The sixth showed another single run for the Larks, but this time the Express answered with three. Bismarck then drove in single runs for the next three innings, but Eau Claire wasn’t done. Nic Ready (Air Force) and Rudy Rott (Ohio) scored unearned runs to try and mount a rally, but Nick Boyles (UNC-Asheville) came in to clean up the damage as he picked up the save.

Kalamazoo 4, Wisconsin Rapids 11

The Wisconsin Rapids Rafters won their tenth game of the season after defeating the Kalamazoo Growlers 11-4. Rapids hit four home runs in the game with the first coming in the bottom of the opening inning from a Dustin Woodcock (SIU-Edwardsville) solo shot. Nic Motley (McLennan CC) added one in the second with a two-run home run. Three RBI singles and an error by the shortstop brought in the four in the third for the Rafters. The Growlers finally got to the Rapids starter in the fifth when they jumped for four which included a double by Andrew Huff (Middle Tennessee) who later scored. Ryan Mergener (Wayne State) hit a solo home run for the fourth run in the inning. Rapids answered with two home runs of their own in the bottom half when Josh Rehwaldt (Sioux Falls) hit a solo home run and Scott Kapers (Valpairso) hit a two-run shot. Mitchell Mallek (St. Cloud Sate) would score number 11 after coming home on a bases loaded walk in the eighth.  TJ Fetters (DMACC) pitched four in relief and only gave up five hits to end the game.

Kenosha 3, Battle Creek 7

The Battle Creek Bombers used two three-run innings to defeat the Kenosha Kingfish 7-3. The Bombers scored first in the bottom of the second when Storm Joop (Indianapolis) hit an RBI double. They added three more in the fifth from a two RBI double by Nick Walker (Austin Peay) and an RBI single from Alec Trela (Memphis). The Bombers’ second three run inning came in the seventh, but the Kingfish responded for a run in the top of the eighth. Kenosha continued to battle back as they got two in the ninth, but TJ Shook (Oakland) struck out the final batter to end the game.

La Crosse 6, Rochester 7

The Rochester Honkers scored five early runs and fought off a rally to defeat the La Lacrosse Loggers 7-6. La Crosse scored an early run to start the game in the first, but the Honkers responded to take the lead with two in the bottom half. An RBI single by Garrett Christman (Butler) tied the game for the Loggers, but a three run second gave Rochester the lead back. The Loggers came within one with two in the fifth and tied the game with a run in the sixth. The Honkers were quick to respond in the bottom half when Mike Echavia (Nevada) scored from a sac fly. The Honkers then got an insurance run in the seventh from another sac fly. The Loggers tried to battle back with a run in the eighth, but Manny Armendariz (Doane) bounced back to pick up his second multi-inning save of the season.
