After starting 1-2, the Rochester Honkers have won four in a row. They hold a first-place tie in the North as Bismarck rebounded and defeated La Crosse. The South is as wide open as it can get this early with six teams tied at 4-3.

 

Wisconsin 6, Fond du Lac 5

The Wisconsin Woodchucks tied it and took the lead in the seventh and went on to defeat the Fond du Lac Dock Spiers 6-5. The Chucks scored right away in the top half of the opening inning on a pass ball. Fondy then put up three in the second inning which started with an RBI single, error and a double by Thomas Luevano (Creighton). The Woodchucks tied it in the fifth from a two-run triple, but the Dock Spiders answered for a pair in the bottom half. Wisconsin came within one on an unearned run, then tied It on a pass ball and scored the eventual winner from another pass ball. The Chucks used three pitchers out of the bullpen to close out the game with Drew Holweger (Furman) picking up the win and Lennon Gwizdala (Northwood) converting the save.

St. Cloud 6, Duluth 10

The Duluth Huskies avoided a threat from the St. Cloud Rox in the latter innings as they won the game 10-6. The first inning started in a big way for the Huskies. They posted seven runs with one of them coming from Chris Gilbody (Georgetown) picking up one of his four hits on an RBI single and Omar Veloz (Fresno State) connecting on one of his two RBI. The Huskies’ run total hit 10 in the fifth which was powered by a two-run double by Augie Isaacson (Friends). The Rox got on the board with a pair in the sixth. St. Cloud got another in the seventh and then two more in the eighth from RBI singles by Ryland Kerr (Eastern Kentucky) and Ryan Lillard (Arizona State). The Rox managed one more in the ninth, but the next guy flew out to end the game.

Kenosha 2, Green Bay 4

The Green Bay Bullfrogs used a key fourth inning to get ahead of the Kenosha Kingfish and win the game 4-2. Kenosha got one in the opening inning from a run on a wild pitch. The Frogs took the lead in the second which started on an RBI single by Rudy Aguilar (St. John’s). The Kingfish then tied it up in the third. Green Bay went ahead in the fourth from a single by Blaise Maris (Florida Tech) and tacked on an insurance run from an RBI double play. Tyler Rosas (Dixie State) pitched a solid four in relief, allowed just two hits on two walks while striking out four to get the win.
Wisconsin Rapids 5, Rockford 13

The Rockford Rivets exploded in the 3rd inning as they went on to defeat the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters 13-5. The Rafters actually jumped on the board first in the top of the third with four which featured a three-run shot by Steven Rivas (Long Beach State). The Rivets answered for twice as many runs. Rapids committed two errors. Connor Rutherford (Lewis) and Brock Martin (Texas Tech) and Joe Butler all connected on multi-RBI hits. The Rivets added three more in the fifth and then a pair in the sixth. The Rafters walked in a run in the eighth, but Rockford got the side in the ninth to end the game.

La Crosse 1, Bismarck 9

The Bismarck Larks used the middle innings to get over the La Crosse Loggers and win the game 9-1. Both teams traded runs in the opening inning. The Loggers got a bases loaded walk and Michael Farnell (Murray State) hit an RBI single for Bismarck. The Larks got four in the fourth from two RBI singles and a two-run double by Ripken Reyes (Cal). Brandon Barma (Alcorn State) then went deep to drive in three for the Larks in the fifth. Barma drove in another in the sixth from an RBI single and their bullpen pitched four scoreless to end the game.

Eau Claire 3, Thunder Bay 1

The Eau Claire Express broke a tie for the eventual game-winner in the top of the ninth to defeat the Thunder Bay Border Cats 3-1. Eau Claire got on the board in the second from a bases loaded walk. Jake Harrison (UT-San Antonio) threw the first six scoreless for the Express. He only allowed one run in the seventh from a sac fly and ended the night with just six hits, one walk and seven strike outs. With the game tied, Eau Claire went ahead from a sac fly. The Express then scored on a wild pitch which proved to be the game-winner.
Waterloo 6, Rochester 8

The Rochester Honkers kept chipping away at the Waterloo Bucks and won the game 8-6. Waterloo got on the board big time in the second with five runs which featured two on a single by Kevin Welch (Rutgers). Rochester got a pair in the bottom half from an error. The Honkers tied it up in the third with one swing of the bat by Griffin Schneider (Century CC). Rochester then went ahead by two in the fourth from an error and an RBI double. The Bucks got one back from an RBI single in the eighth, but the Honkers responded with one of their own. Rochester threw three guys out of the bullpen for four innings, only gave up one run on five hit while striking out seven.

Lakeshore 5, Battle Creek 3

The Lakeshore Chinooks held off a late rally by the Battle Creek Bombers and won the game 5-3. Lakeshore got three right away in the second as Alex Stevenson (Eastern Illinois) drove in two from a single. The Bombers got one in the bottom half from an RBI single. Another two came in the fourth for the Chinooks as Stevenson drove in another. Battle Creek got one in the seventh from an RBI single by Jalen Thomas (Madonna). The Bombers came within two in the bottom of the ninth from a pass ball, but the side was retired to end the game.
Mankato 7, Willmar 1

The Mankato MoonDogs got great pitching in their 7-1 victory over the Willmar Stingers. Mankato got three in the second. They got two-RBI doubles as two runs scored when Josh Eliver (Houston) hit his. The MoonDogs got another in the third from an error. Willmar got on the board when Tyler Reichenborn (Iowa Western) hit a solo shot. Willmar then committed an error in the seventh which contributed to three more runs for Mankato. Nathan Hickey (Tarleton State) threw 6.2, only allowed the one run on four hits while striking out nine for the win while Brandon Pfaadt (Bellarmine) struck out four in the final 2.1.

Madison 7, Kalamazoo 4

The Madison Mallards held off a late rally from the Kalamazoo Growlers and won the game 7-4. The Mallards got a pair in the third on an RBI single by David Vinsky (Northwood). Donovan Clark (Huntington) doubled in a run to put Kalamazoo on the board in the fourth. The Mallards capitalized in the sixth from a pass ball and an error. Madison got another pair in the seventh and then one more in the eighth. Madison got into some trouble trying to end the game in the ninth. The Growlers got one from a sac fly and then an RBI single. They walked in a run, but then the next guy grounded out to end the game.
