The Wisconsin Woodchucks started off the night with a bang beating the Lakeshore Chinooks in a 14 run difference and continuing their undefeated season. The St. Cloud Rox shut down the Waterloo Bucks with a no score game and controlling their place in the Northwoods League.
Wisconsin Woodchucks 16, Lakeshore Chinooks 2
The Wisconsin Woodchucks demolish the Lakeshore Chinooks 16-2 protecting their current undefeated 2019 season (3-0). The Woodchucks really took the lead during the fourth inning when they scored four runs which started to drive the gap between them and the Chinooks. Wisconsin’s Kenny Rodriguez (Seminole State College FL) had six RBIs, a double, five hits, and two runs during his time at the plate. Other Woodchucks such as Lawrence Cicileo (Adelphi University), Alejandro Gonzalez (Waldorf University), Javier Rosario (Hillsborough CC), and Kyle Simmons (Lynn University) all had an RBI as well. Lakeshore’s Justin Olson (Kentucky) was the one and only home run of the night. He also had one RBI, one hit, and one run. The Woodchucks winning pitcher of the game was Robert Wegielnik (FL Southwest State College) pitching five innings with three strike outs, five hits, and two walks. The Chinooks losing pitcher was Austin Edwards (Ellsworth CC) who pitched for three inning giving up six hits, five runs, five errors, and striking out six.
Traverse City Pit Spitters 2, R0ckford Rivets 7
The Traverse City Pit Spitters were defeated by the Rockford Rivets with a final score of 7-2 with the Rox’s scoring two home runs and dominating after the bottom of the fourth. Jake VanderWal (Long Beach State) and Jeff Heinrich (South Carolina) both scored individual home runs for the Rivets during tonights game. Both also contributed two RBIs and VanderWal also hit a double. The Rockford Rivet’s winning pitcher was Zack Jones (Rockford) pitching for six innings, with an impressive nine strike outs, and giving up four hits and two runs. While Traverse Cities Kyle Jones (University of Toledo) was the losing pitcher of the night with seven hits, four runs, and two strike outs during his three innings at the mound.
St.Cloud Rox 4, Waterloo Bucks 0
The St. Cloud Rox’s shut down and shut out the Waterloo Bucks tonight with a final score 4-0. The Rox’s took control of the game immediately scoring two runs during the second inning. Jordan Barth (Augustana University) and Garett Delano (Brown University) both had a single RBI with Barth also hitting a double. The pitching by the St. Cloud’s was second to none not allowing any runs by the Bucks. The winning pitcher was Trevor Koenig (St. Cloud State) for the Rox’s pitching six innings with three hits, zero runs, and two strike outs. The saving pitcher was Joey Stock (St. Johns University) finishing the game with one hit and two strike outs. Jack Corkery (Swarthmore) was the losing pitcher allowing two hits and two runs past and two strike outs during his two innings at work.
Thunder Bay Border Cats 1, Rochester Honkers 3
The Rochester Honkers finish the Thunder Bay Border Cats off in a close game tonight with a final score 3-1. The score was 0-0 until the Honkers pushed through and scored two runs during the sixth inning. Rochester’s Brennan Schmitt (UW- La Crosse) hit a double, an RBI, and two hits. Mitchell Allen (New Mexico State University) also had an RBI for the Honkers. Bryce Jorgenson (Minnesota- Crookston) received an RBI and double hit for the Border Cats. The winning pitcher was Keon Taylor for the Rochester Honkers pitching two innings with zero runs and five strike outs. Logan Nissen (Bethany Lutheran College) came in for the save striking out one while giving up two hits and one run. The losing pitch was Austin Eggleston (Friends University (KS)) giving up four hits and two runs in four innings for the Thunder Bay Border Cats.
Duluth Huskies 5, La Crosse Loggers 7
The La Crosse Loggers rally to defeat the Duluth Huskies breaking their winning streak season record. The final score of tonights game was 7-5. Both Cody Jefferis (San Diego) and TJ Byrd (Young Harris) had two RBI doubles. Jerfferis also received two hits, two runs, and three walks during the game. Huskies’ Carter Putz (Notre Dame) had two RBIs, a home run, one hit, and one run. The losing pitcher was Alex Rao (Notre Dame) pitching four innings, giving up seven hits and six runs, and six strike outs. Logger’s Jack Ferguson (Madonna) was the winning pitcher of the game with five strike outs, two runs, and five hits within a six inning period. The saving pitcher was Tyler Shingledecker (Penn State) coming in the last inning with two strike outs, one hit, and one run to finished the game up.
Madison Mallards 2, Wisconsin Rapids Rafters 1
The Madison Mallards defeat the Wisconsin Rafters’ during their season home opener with a finishing score 2-1. Mallards E.J. Ranel (Lenoir-Rhyne) had an RBI, a double hit, and two hits. Anthony Warneke (LIU Brooklyn) from the Rafters hitting an RBI and two hits during the game. The winning pitcher of the night was Madison’s Blake Cisneros (Southeastern Missouri State) pitching three innings with zero hits, zero runs, and three strike outs. Theo Denlinger (Bradley) came in with the save with one walk and one strike out. Wisconsin Rapids’ losing pitcher was Winston Allen (Delaware) pitching about one inning with two hits, one run, and one strike out.
Mankato MoonDogs 8, Willmar Stingers 9
The Willmar Stingers barely defeat the Mankato MoonDogs with a close game 9-8. In the first inning the MoonDogs were on top scoring five runs but thought the rest of the game the Stingers came up strong and finishing with the win. Mankato’s Tyler Casagrande (Arizona) and James Gargano (Butler) both scored one home run each. Casagrande also contributed three RBIs while Gargano had four RBIs throughout the game. Stinger John Trousdale (Alabama) had two RBIs, three hits, two runs, and a batting average of .222. The winning pitcher of the night was John Bezdicek (Southwest Minnesota State) pitching two innings with zero hits, zero runs, and six strike outs. While the MoonDogs losing pitcher was Shane Barringer (Bellarmine) with three hits, one run, one walk, and three strike outs during his one inning at the pitchers mound.
Green Bay Booyah 11, Kalamazoo Growlers 4
The Green Bay Booyah’s demolish the Kalamazoo Growlers tonight pulling through during the first and sixth inning scoring 4 runs each. The final score between the Booyah’s and Growlers was 11-4. During the first inning Green Bay came out the gates running scoring four runs. Matt McDonald (Lamar) hit an impressive two home runs and three RBIs during tonights game. Another great performance came from Mike Ferri (Milwaukee) scoring a home run, four RBIs, and two runs. The Growlers Shea Kramer (University of Utah) had three RBIS and two hits. The winning pitcher was Green Bay’s Will Saxton (Florida International) pitching five innings, four strike outs, giving up three hits, and two runs. Andrew Verbrugge (Hillsdale College) was the losing pitcher for the Kalamazoo Growlers pitching a total of five innings, giving up six hits, four runs, and four strike outs.
Fond du Lac Dock Spiders 5, Battle Creek Bombers 8
The Battle Creek Bombers defeat the Fond du Lac Dock Spiders making their move during the first and seventh inning scoring 3 runs each with a final score of 8-5. The Spiders Cam McMillan (Vanderbilt) hit a home run during the fourth inning. He also contributed one RBI, one hit, and one run during the game. Battle Creek’s John Malcom (Vanderbilt) was on fire having three RBIs, three runs, four hits, a double, and zero strike outs. The winning pitcher was the Bombers Burrell Jones (Wabash Valley College) pitching 1.2 innings with zero hits, zero runs, and three strike outs. The saving pitcher of the night was Battle Creek’s Pablo Arevalo (Barry) pitching a strike out and zero hits or runs. While the Spiders losing pitcher was Thomas Jager (Robert Morris University) with three hits, three runs, and one strike out during his two inning time.
Kenosha Kingfish 3, Kokomo Jackrabbits 4
Kokomo Jackrabbits close the gap during the sixth and eight inning for the win against the Kenosha Kingfish finishing 4-3. Jackrabbits’ Austin Elder (CSU-Northridge) and Chase Hacker (UT-San Antonio) each had one RBI assisting in their first win of the season. The Kingfish’s Charles Middleton (Sierra College) hit a double and received an RBI during tonights game. Kokomo’s winning pitcher was Sam Muskat (MSU-Billings) pitching two innings with two hits, no walks, and one strike out. While Ryan Boyer (Pitt-Bradford) came in for the save pitching one inning with zero runs and two strike outs. The losing pitcher was Keith Kutzler (Wisconsin-Whitewater) with one strike out, two hits, and two runs for the Kenosha Kingfish.
Eau Claire Express 8, Bismarck Larks 16
Bismarck Larks blow out the Eau Claire Express in a double digit defeat of 16-8 during tonights game. Bismarck’s AJ DiFillipo (Columbia) collected six RBIs, a triple, two hits, and one run. Wyatt Ulrich (St. Johns (MN)), Jacob Rogers (BYU), and Cole Taylor (Texas A and M) all contributed two RBIs tonight. For the Eau Claire Express’ Troy Beilsmith (Evansville) hit a double, an RBI, four hits, and three runs. The winning pitcher of the night was Gavin Rogers (University of West Alabama) from the Larks pitching a total of seven innings, giving up nine hits, seven runs, and striking out six. While the losing pitcher from the Express was Nate Davis (Triton) with four hits, eight runs, three strike outs, and seven walks within three innings of work.
