After the All-Star games the Northwoods League teams were ready to start up again! The Traverse City Pit Spitters shut out the Wisconsin Woodchucks to start off the night. The final score was 2-0. The Kokomo Jackrabbits rallied for the win against the Kalamazoo Growlers with a close final score 11-10. The Jackrabbits had a solid ninth inning scoring five runs to defeat the Growlers.
Thunder Bay Border Cats 5, Duluth Huskies 13
The Duluth Huskies demolished the Thunder Bay Border Cats during a blow out final score of 13-5. The Huskies had an impressive second inning scoring six runs to defeat the Border Cats. Max Guzman (Faulkner University) hit one home run and one RBI from Duluth. Another solid performance was by Huskies Danny Zimmerman (University of Michigan) with two double and two RBI. Thunder Bay’s Jordan Larson (Northern Illinois University) had one double, one triple, and one RBI. The winning pitcher was Colton Williams (U of SA Oklahoma) who pitched five innings giving up three runs and striking out six. The losing pitcher as Border Cats Austin Eggleston (Friends University (KS)).
La Crosse Loggers 5, Eau Claire Express 3
The La Crosse Loggers won over the Eau Claire Express with a final score 5-3. The Loggers had a strong seventh inning scoring three runs to take the lead from the Express. Ryan Colgate (Arizona) hit one home run along with one RBI for La Crosse. Eau Claire’s David LaManna (Notre Dame) and Mason Gavre (Paradise Valley CC) both had one RBI each. The winning pitcher was Loggers Tyler Shingledecker (Penn State) who pitched five innings with one run and three strike outs. Jared Freilich (Penn State) was the saving pitcher while Express Matt Verdun (Lewis) was the losing pitcher.
Lakeshore Chinooks 7, Madison Mallards 8
The Lakeshore Chinooks lost in a close battle against the Madison Mallards with an ending game score of 8-7. The Mallards pulled through scoring one run in the ninth inning to steal the win over the Chinooks. Jake Thompson (Kentucky) and Ronnie Sweeny III (Iowa Western) hit one home run and one RBI each for the Chinooks. Madison’s Justice Bigbie (Western Carolina) and Drew Williams (San Jose State) each had one home run while Bigbie had five RBI throughout the game. The winning pitcher was Theo Denlinger (Bradley) with no runs, one hit, and four strike outs for the Mallards. The losing pitcher was Lakeshore’s Troy Black (Faulkner).

The Traverse City Pit Spitters were shut out by the Wisconsin Woodchucks with a final score 2-0. The Woodchucks had a total of two runs and six hits throughout the game. Adam Proctor (Michigan State) hit one triple for the Pit Spitters. Wisconsin’s Brandon Seltzer (Palm Beach Atlantic) and TJ Reeves (University of Alabama) had one RBI each. The winning pitcher of the game was Jose Varela (FIU) who pitched a solid six innings giving up no runs, two hits, and striking out two. Lenny Gwizdala (Northwood University) came in for the saving pitch during the last inning for the Woodchucks and Chad Patrick (Purdue Northwest) was the losing pitcher.
Rochester Honkers 4, Willmar Stingers 1
The Rochester Honkers beat the Willmar Stingers with an ending game score of 4-1. The Honkers had a total of four runs and five hits throughout tonights game. Nathan Webb (California-Riverside) had one home run along with two RBI for Rochester. Another solid performance was by his teammate, Ryan Ober (Oregon State University) who hit one double. The winning pitcher was Landon Anderson (Cal State Fullerton) who pitched six innings giving up one run, two hits, and striking out two for the Honkers. Keon Taylor (Georgetown College) swooped in for the saving pitched while Mason Palmier (Missouri Baptist) was the losing pitched for the Stingers.
Waterloo Bucks, Mankato MoonDogs
Tonight’s game in Mankato between the MoonDogs and the Bucks has been suspended due to weather. The game will be continued and finished to nine innings tomorrow, July 19, in Mankato starting at 4:05. The regularly scheduled game will take place thirty minutes after the conclusion of the first game and it will be seven innings.
Fond du Lac Dock Spiders 10, Green Bay Booyah 12
The Green Bay Booyah defeated the Fond du Lac Dock Spiders with a final score 12-10. The Spiders tried to pull through scoring two runs in the top of the ninth but it was not enough to our score the Booyah. Spiders Luke Robinson (Western Carolina) hit two home runs while his teammates Kellen Sarver (Illinois) and Tim Elko (Mississippi) had one home run each. Green Bay’s Blaise Maris (Florida Tech) received one home run along with one double and two RBI. The winning pitcher was Will Saxton (Florida International) who pitched three innings giving up two runs, two hits, and three strike outs. The losing pitcher was Fond du Lac’s Conor Dryer (Central Missouri).
Kalamazoo Growlers 10, Kokomo Jackrabbits 11
The Kalamazoo Growlers were defeated by the Kokomo Jackrabbits with the Jackrabbits strong ninth inning scoring five runs to take over the win. The final score was a close 11-10. Growlers Jake Topolski (Duke University) and Hunter Thorn (Purdue Northwest) both hit one home run and Toploski with two RBI. Logan Jarvis (Belmont) hit one home run, two RBI, and one double for the Jackrabbits. The winning pitcher was Mark Meyer (Akron) and the losing pitcher was DJ Moore (Huntington University).
Rockford Rivets 13, Battle Creek Bombers 3
The Rockford Rivets dominated over the Battle Creek Bombers with an ending score 13-3. In the first inning the Rivets scored nine runs to capture the lead over the Bombers. Jake VanderWal (Long Beach State) had one home run along with four RBI for Rockford. Battle Creek’s John Malcom (Vanderbilt) hit one double and one RBI during tonights game. The winning pitcher was Rivets Zack Jones (Rockford) who pitched an impressive seven innings with one run, two hits, and while striking out seven. The losing pitcher was Bombers Ty Shoaff (Notre Dame College).
Bismarck Larks 3, St. Cloud Rox 7
The St. Cloud Rox beat the Bismarck Larks with an ending game score of 7-3. The Rox had a strong bottom of the fifth inning scoring seven runs to dominate over the Larks. Bismarck’s Zack Gregory (Arkansas) hit one double along with two RBI. St. Cloud’s Ben Carew (Kent State University) had two RBI and one double. The winning pitcher was Rox RJ Martinez (Minot State) with three runs, seven hits, and six strike outs during his six innings of work. The losing pitcher was Josh Gray (LSU-Alexandria).
Kenosha Kingfish 0, Wisconsin Rapids Rafters 1
The Kenosha Kingfish were beaten by the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters in a close battle during tonights game. The final score was 1-0 with the Rafters scoring one run in the bottom of the second inning to make the difference. Wisconsin’s Harry Fullerton (University of New Mexico) who hit one RBI. Gareth Stroh (Nebraska) was the winning pitcher who gave up no runs, one hits, and striking out nine during his seven innings of work. The saving pitcher was Rafters Brayden Bonner (Dixie State) while Keith Kutzler (Wisconsin-Whitewater) was the losing pitcher for the Kingfish.
