The Bismarck Bull Moose picked up their first win of the 2020 season on Monday night, as they topped the Bismarck Larks 6-5 in 11 innings. It is the first loss of the season for the Larks, who are now 5-1. The win brings the Bull Moose to 1-4 on the season.
Ethan Kleinheider (Rockhurst) scored the game-winning run in the top of the 11th when he came across the plate on a passed ball. The Larks were unable to respond in the bottom of the frame, as they were retired in order, stranding the tying run at third base.
Torin Montgomery led the Bull Moose offense, going 2-5 on the night with two runs scored and one run driven in. Jake Snyder (Creighton) picked up his first win of the season after throwing one inning, allowing two runs on two hits. Paxton Miller (University of Mary) came on and threw the scoreless 11th to pick up his first save of the season.
Tanner Froehlich (Seton Hill) led the Larks, as he went 2-5 with a double and two runs scored. Connor Henriques (Santa Clara University) also went 2-5 on the night, with two runs batted in. Noah Fisher (Northern Kentucky) was 1-4 at the plate, with two RBI of his own. The Larks pitching staff had some good outings, led by Ryan Bourassa (Bismarck State College), who threw three and two-thirds of an inning, allowing no runs on just one hit while recording five strikeouts.
The Bull Moose will look to win their second game of the season on Tuesday night when they take on the Mandan Flickertails. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. at Bismarck Municipal Ballpark.
