There was no shortage of offense on Saturday in the Northwoods League, as the Waterloo Bucks, Bismarck Bull Moose, Rockford Rivets, Fond du Lac Dock Spiders and Battle Creek Bombers all scored in double digits Saturday, including a 20-3 win for the Bucks over the Mankato Moondogs.

Mandan Flickertails 5 Bismarck Bull Moose 4
The Bull Moose jumped out to an early 4-1 lead, but the Flickertails started chipping away, and capped off their rally with a three-run seventh inning to take the first game of the doubleheader. Cole Elvis (Cal-Berkley) led the Flickertails offense, going 2-5 with a run scored and an RBI. Damone Hale (Yavapai C.C.) also finished 2-5 with a run scored while Ben Rushing (Central Florida) was 1-4, with the one hit being a RBI double. Torin Montgomery (Boise State) was the offensive leader for the Bull Moose, going 2-5 at the dish with two RBI. John Farley V (Eastern Kentucky) picked up the win for Mandan, throwing two and two-third innings in relief, allowing one hit and recording three strikeouts. David Wylie (Azusa Pacific) came on in the ninth and retired the side to pick up his third save of the season.
Bismarck Bull Moose 12 Mandan Flickertails 3
The Bull Moose poured on the runs in the second game of the doubleheader, scoring 11 runs in thebottom of the eighth to pick up their second win of the 2020 season. Pedro Serruto (Rutgers) finished the game 2-5 at the plate with a run scored and three RBI. Lorenzo Debrecht (Toledo) was 3-5 at the plate while Ethan Kleinheider (Rockhurst) went 3-5 with a pair of RBI. Gunnar Boehm (Tiffin) got the start for Bismarck and threw six full innings, allowing three runs on three hits and recording seven strikeouts. Jake Snyder (Creighton) would be credited with the win after throwing one scoreless inning.

Battle Creek Bombers 11 Kalamazoo Growlers 7
The Growlers scored four runs in the bottom of the ninth, but it just wasn’t enough, as their rally came up just short on Saturday night. Nate Stolze (Miami University Ohio) did a lot of the work for the Bombers, going 2-4 at the plate with a double, a home run, two runs scored and four RBI. Tyler Wardwell (Miami University Ohio) was 1-4 at the plate with a double and two RBI while Josh Swinehart (Western Michigan) was 2-6 with a run scored and a pair of RBI. Ryan Middendorf (Lake Erie College) got the start for Battle Creek, throwing four clean innings, allowing a run on two hits while striking out four batters. Evan Ingram (Hendrix College) was credited with the win after throwing one scoreless inning, allowing a hit.
Wisconsin/Illinois Pod
Rockford Rivets 16 Wisconsin Woodchucks 2
The Rivets offense was firing on all cylinders on Saturday, and it showed as they easily beat the Wisconsin Woodchucks 16-2 thanks in part to a 10-run fifth inning. There was no shortage of offensive might for the Rivets, but one of the leaders was Brandon Comia (Illinois), who was 3-5 at the plate with a double, a home run and five RBI. Matt Higgins (Bellarmine University) was 2-5 with two RBI and three runs scored, while Heinrich was 2-5 with two runs scored and three RBI. In total, every Rivet who was in the starting lineup recorded at least one hit, and seven of the nine recorded an RBI. Rockford’s pitching was on point as well, led by Zach Kammin (Coe College), who threw four innings, allowing two runs on four hits and recording eight strikeouts.
Wisconsin Rapids Rafters 6 Green Bay Booyah 5
The Rafters held off a late charge from the Booyah to sneak away with a 6-5 win. Green Bay took the lead early, but the Rafters started chipping away, scoring a run in the fifth and one in the sixth before putting three runs on the scoreboard in the seventh to take the lead. After the Booyah scored a pair in the eighth, the Rafters pushed across the game-winning run in the bottom of the ninth. Hank Zeisler (Chapman University) only had one at-bat for Wisconsin Rapids, but it was a big one, as he came off the bench in the seventh and blasted a three-run home run over the right field fence to push the Rafters into the lead. Brayden Bonner (Dixie State) picked up his second win of the season, throwing two scoreless innings, allowing a hit and recording three strikeouts.
Fond du Lac Dock Spiders 10 La Crosse Loggers 2
The Dock Spiders had no problems with the Loggers on Saturday, as they took the lead in the bottom of the second and never looked back. Ryan Ritter (Kentucky) had an outstanding night for Fond du Lac, going 3-4 at the plate with a double, a run scored and three RBI. John Rhodes (Kentucky), Tim Elko (Mississippi) and Aaron Anderson (Liberty) all had two RBI for the Dock Spiders. Ryan Loutos (Washington University in St. Louis) was credited with the win, throwing two and two-third innings of relief ball, allowing one run on three hits.
Minnesota/Iowa Pod
Waterloo Bucks 20 Mankato Moondogs 3
The Bucks scored early and often on Saturday, including a five-run fifth and a six-run seventh to demolish the Mankato Moondogs. Cameron Thompson (Kansas State) led the Waterloo offense, going 5-6 with a double and five runs scored. Xane Washington (Nicholls State) was 1-3 at the plate, but had five RBI on the game. Peyton Williams (Iowa) finished 3-5 with a double, a home run and three RBI while Jalen Smith (California-Davis) was 2-2 with four runs scored and a pair of RBI. The pitching for the Bucks was also strong, as the Bucks pitchers combined to allow three runs on nine hits and recorded nine strikeouts. Gavin Lizik (Cal State Northridge) was credited with the win after throwing two innings of relief ball.
Willmar Stingers 5 St. Cloud Rox 2
The Stingers had no problems on Saturday night, crusing to a win over the Rox at Bill Taunton Stadium. Griffin Cheney (Georgia State) led the Stingers offense, going 2-3 with a double and four RBI. He also picked up a stolen base. Jaxon Hallmark (Nebraska) had a great night at the plate, going 3-3 with two runs scored, and also drawing a walk. It wasn’t all bad news for the Rox, as Nate Rombach (Texas Tech) went 3-4 with a double while Kodie Kolden (Washington State) was 2-3 with a double and a run scored. Jacob Webb (Miami University Ohio) picked up the win for the Stingers, throwing six strong innings, allowing one run on three hits and recording three strikeouts.
