The Mankato MoonDogs picked up their second win of the season on Wednesday, as they held off a ninth-inning rally from the Waterloo Bucks. The Green Bay Booyah scored a pair of runs in the top of the ninth then were able to narrowly hang on despite the Wisconsin Woodchucks scoring two runs of their own in the bottom of the ninth.

Battle Creek Bombers 4 Kalamazoo Growlers 1
One night after getting blown out by the Mac Daddies, the Bombers picked up a win on Wednesday over the Growlers. Justin VanDeBrake (Washington State) was 3-3 for the Bombers, with a home run and two RBI. Nate Stolze (Miami University Ohio) was 2-5 with a run scored and an RBI while Brad Goulet (Akron) was 1-3 with two runs scored. It was a true team effort for the Battle Creek pitching staff, as they used five pitchers, with Christian Grigsby (Lamar University) getting the win after throwing two innings, allowing a run on a hit with a pair of strikeouts.

Green Bay Booyah 4 Wisconsin Woodchucks 3
The two teams exchanged runs in the ninth, but in the end it was the Booyah who came out victorious over the Woodchucks. Matt McDonald (Lamar University) led the Booyah offense, going 2-4 with a pair of doubles and an RBI, which came in the top of the ninth when he laced a double into left field to score Alec Burns (West Virginia), giving the Booyah the lead. Logan Lee (Northwood University) got the start for Green Bay and threw four innings, allowing one run and a hit with four strikeouts. Jack Sauser (Northwestern University) picked up the win after throwing two innings, allowing a hit and two strikeouts.

There wasn’t much offense on Wednesday at Witter Athletic Field, but the home Rafters were able to scratch across a couple of runs to slip past the Loggers. The only bright spot for either offense was Ryan Walstad (Sacramento State), who was 1-1 with a solo home run and a pair of RBI. Both teams had stellar pitching performances, as Chris Mcelvain (Vanderbilt) got the start for the Rafters and threw four and one-third of an inning, allowing two hits and recording eight strikeouts. His counterpart was Tony Roca (North Florida), who threw five full innings, allowing a run on three hits with three strikeouts.

Mankato MoonDogs 5 Waterloo Bucks 3
The MoonDogs picked up their second win of the season on Wednesday, as they held tough against a ninth-inning Waterloo rally to escape with the win. Zach Kokoska (Kansas State) was 1-4 at the plate, but the one hit was a solo home run for Mankato. Zach Giles (Central Michigan) was also 1-4, with three RBI on the night. Deylen Miley (Bellarmine) picked up the win, throwing five innings, allowing one run on three hits and striking out six batters. Thomas Bruss (Augustana) came on in the ninth and picked up the save after throwing one inning of scoreless baseball.
Willmar Stingers 5 Rochester Honkers 1
The Stingers scored three runs in the bottom of the first and didn’t look back, as they cruised to a 5-1 win over the Honkers. Kyle Manzardo (Washington State) led the Stingers offense, going 2-3 with a run scored and an RBI. Jack Zigan (Minnesota State University Mankato) got the start for the Stingers and threw six innings, allowing a run on five hits with three strikeouts to pick up his first win of the season. He was relieved by Jonathan Brand (Miami University of Ohio), who threw two scoreless innings with three strikeouts. Tanner Brown (Augustana) came on and pitched the ninth, allowing a hit but otherwise striking out the side to lock down the win.
