Generally when a team throws a no-hitter, they win the game. That wasn’t the case in Kalamazoo on Monday, as the Growlers no-hit the Kalamazoo Mac Daddies, but were done in by a disastrous first inning that saw the Mac Daddies score five runs on no hits and three errors. In Bismarck, the Bull Moose offense showed up, as they routed the Mandan Flickertails.

Kalamazoo Mac Daddies 5 Kalamazoo Growlers 4
The Growlers threw a no-hitter on Monday night, but couldn’t dig themselves out of an early 5-2 hole, as they accomplished the rare feat of throwing a no-hitter and losing. All the Mac Daddies runs came in the first, as the first four batters all reached base, thanks to a pair of walks, a hit batter and an error by the shortstop that allowed a run to score. In total, the Growlers committed three errors in the inning, while the Mac Daddies benefitted from a passed ball and a sacrifice fly as well.
