With the end of four weeks of Northwoods League games, the Wisconsin Rapids still lead the league and the Great Lakes West with 23 wins. The Eau Claire Express also battled to stay in the lead in the Great Plains East going 5- 5 over their past 10 games. The Kalamazoo Growlers and St.Cloud Rox have won seven of their past 10 games and look to hold their lead this week.
Kalamazoo Growlers 15, Battle Creek Battle Jacks 2
The Kalamazoo Growlers swept the Battle Creek Battle Jacks 15-2. Ryan Dykstra (Oakland University) drove in the first runs of the game with a double to right field in the third inning. Dystra had two doubles and two RBI. Brandon Moore (University of Montevallo) had a three run home run in the fourth inning to provide insurance runs. Cole Russo (University of Central Florida) had two singles, two walks and three RBI. Dylan Freeman (University of Montevallo) had the win on the mound throwing five strikeouts in 4.1 innings.
Rockford Rivets 5, Traverse City Pit Spitters 4
The Rockford Rivets win game two to split the series against the Traverse City Pit Spitters 5-4. The Rivets rallied back to walk off the game in the bottom of the ninth with a two run double by Cam Mcdonald (University of Illinois). Mcdonald had two hits and two doubles. Ty Crittenberger (Western Kentucky) had a double in the eight to score two runs as well. Ross Thompson (Heidelberg University) was the starting pitcher throwing 6.2 innings allowing only one run to score with seven strikeouts.
Wisconsin Rapids Rafters 7, Green Bay Rockers 2
The Wisconsin Rapids Rafters bounced back to beat the Green Bay Rockers 7-2. With a pitchers duel the Rafters scored first in the seventh inning on a sac fly by Garrett Broussard (Utah Valley University). Brendan Bobo (California State University, Fullerton) led the offense with two hits, one walk, one RBI and scored twice as he reached base. Levi Jensen (University of North Alabama) started the eighth inning off with a single and later scored on a sac fly. The Rafters scored five runs in the eighth for their final runs of the game.
Fond du Lac Dock Spiders 14, Wausau Woodchucks 4
The Fond du Lac Dock Spiders took down the Wausau Woodchucks 14-4 to sweep the series. Cole Messina (University of South Carolina) earned Northwoods League Player of the Night going 3 for 5 at the plate with a double, triple and a home run with seven RBI. Alejandro Macario (Nova Southeastern University) also had three hits with a double and three RBI. Stephen Schissler (Nova Southeastern University) had the win on the mound throwing 5.1 innings with three strikeouts allowing only two runs to score.
Battle Creek Battle Jacks 8, Kalamazoo Growlers 7
The Battle Creek Battle Jacks won the second game of the day against the Kalamazoo Growlers 8-7 in eight innings. The Battle Jacks scored first with a home run by Billy Hancock (Mount Marty College) in the first inning. Fisher Pyatt (San Diego State University) scored two runs in the top of the 5th with a double to left field. Pyatt had one hit, one walk and three RBI. Aaron Dolney (Eastern Michigan University) had two hits with a single and a double. Brett Sanchez (Bellhaven University) started the game throwing 5.1 innings with five strikeouts.
The Duluth Huskies 12, Bismarck Larks 8
The Duluth Huskies take the series against the Bismarck Larks 12-8. Tyler Leroy (Arizona Western College) led the offense with a double, home run, stolen base and two RBI. Jonathan Vastine (Vanderbilt University) and Kristian Campbell (Georgia Tech) both had three hits and combined for three RBI. Ambren Voitik (Austin Peay) had two hits with a double scoring each time he reached base. Pat Miner (Arkansas Tech University) had the win on the mound throwing six innings with six strikeouts.
St.Cloud Rox 12, Mankato MoonDogs 5
The St.Cloud Rox split the series as they defeated the Mankato MoonDogs 12-5. The Rox rallied back, scoring in almost every inning. Charlie Condon (University of Georgia) and Ethan Mann (New Mexico State University) both had one hit, three walks and one RBI. Mann had a triple in the first inning for the first hit of the game. Ryan Jackson (University of Nevada, Reno) had three hits with a double, walk, hit by pitch and one RBI. The Rox generated 11 hits with no errors on the field.
Kokomo Jackrabbits 5, Madison Mallards 3
The Kokomo Jackrabbits defeated the Madison Mallards 5-3 to split the series. Alejandro Holguin (University of South Carolina – Upstate) led the team with three singles and two RBI. Kyan Lodice (Kansas State University) had a double and a home run in the sixth inning to score their last run of the game. JT Holton (Indiana University Kokomo) was the starting pitcher throwing 6.1 innings with five strikeouts. Hector Garcia (Hope International University) closed the game throwing the last 2.2 innings with two strikeouts.
La Crosse Loggers 7, Eau Claire Express 6
The La Crosse Loggers won the second game of the series against the Eau Claire Express 7-6. Landon Wallace (University of Nevada, Reno) scored the first runs of the game with a home run in the first inning. Wallace had three hits with a double and two RBI. Jordan Donahue (University of Hawaii) drove in the third run of the game with an RBI single. Donahue had two hits, a walk and one RBI. Chase Chatman (Florida SouthWestern State College) threw five innings with four strikeouts with the win on the mound.
Waterloo Bucks 10, Rochester Honkers 9
For their seventh win of the season the Waterloo Bucks split the series against the Rochester Honkers 10-9. With a multi-hit game from five players Kyle Huckstorf (University of Iowa) led the team with four hits including a double, home run and one RBI. Liam Critchett (Loyola Marymount University) had two hits with a grand slam in the sixth inning driving in five runs on the day. Cameron Cromer (University of Northern Colorado) had three hits and one stolen base.
Lakeshore Chinooks 16, Kenosha Kingfish 0
The Lakeshore Chinooks took the series against the Kenosha Kingfish 16-0. Eric Chalus (Kent State University) started the game throwing six scoreless innings giving up only two hits and with three strikeouts. Garrett Martin (Oklahoma State University) had a home run in the second inning with four RBI. Aidan Longwell (Kent State University) had the second home run of the game with two RBI. John Bay (Oklahoma State University) went three for three with two doubles, a walk and a hit by pitch reaching base five times.
