The Willmar Stingers and the Traverse City Pit Spitters won their first game of the series in an eleven inning victory. The Stingers now have a three game win streak and have a winning record of 16-11 as they work their way to the top of their region. The Traverse City Pit Spitters have a record of 14-15 as they work to take the lead of the Great Lakes East.
Kalamazoo Growlers 9, Kokomo Jackrabbits 6
The Kalamazoo Growlers defeat the Kokomo Jackrabbits 9-6 for their first game of the series. Connor Charping (Western Michigan University) had the first hit of the night with a double to right field. Charping went two for three with an RBI, two walks and a stolen base. Trey Lipsey (Ohio State University) earned Northwoods League Player of the Night going three for five with a double, two RBI, hit by pitch and two stolen bases. Mason Meeks (Drury University) started the game throwing 6.2 innings with four strikeouts.
Wausau Woodchucks 7, Lakeshore Chinooks 6
The Wausau Woodchucks took their 14th win of the season against the Lakeshore Chinooks 7-6. The Woodchucks rallied back to score their first runs in the sixth inning with an RBI double by Michael Brooks (University of Central Florida) and an RBI single by Zach Levenson (University of Miami). They each had two RBI on the night. Mark Shallenberger (University of Evansville) went four for five with one RBI and scored twice as he reached base. Carter Heninger (San Jose State University) closed the game and had the win on the mound throwing two innings with four strikeouts.
Fond du Lac Dock Spiders 4, Green Bay Rockers 2
The Fond du Lac Dock Spiders took down the Green Bay Rockers 4-2 for their fourth win in a row. The Spiders scored first with a two run home run by Evan Smith (West Virginia University). They scored their third run in the fourth inning with a solo home run by Cole Messina (University of South Carolina). Messina also had a double scoring as he reached base. Austin Wagner (University of Mary) started the game throwing five scoreless innings with six strikeouts.
St.Cloud Rox 10, La Crosse Loggers 2
The St.Cloud Rox stay in the lead of the Great Plains West as they defeat the La Crosse Loggers 10-2. The Rox scored four runs in the first inning to take the lead. Brice Matthews (University of Nebraska) had two hits with a home run and two RBI. Josh Cowden (Brigham Young University) and Magnum Hofstetter (University of Hawaii) both had three walks and combined to score three times as they reached base. Nathan Culley (Minnesota State University, Mankato) earned Northwoods league Pitcher of the Night throwing six innings with nine strikeouts and allowed only one run to score.
Wisconsin Rapids Rafters 7, Kenosha Kingfish 5
The Wisconsin Rapids Rafters rallied back to win the first game of the series against the Kenosha Kingfish 7-5. Ben Ross (Notre Dame College) scored the first run of the game with a home run in the first inning. Ross had two RBI, a stolen base and scored twice as he reached base. With a tied game going into the eighth inning the Rafters scored their final two runs on two RBI doubles by Harry Owen (Consumnes River College) and Chris Conniff (St. John’s University).
Willmar Stingers 7, Eau Claire Express 6
The Willmar Stingers win their third game in a row as they took down the Eau Claire Express 7-6. JT Navyac (California State University, Fullerton) led his team going three for three at the plate with four RBI and two walks. Kyle Payne (Northwest Nazarene University) had one hit and three walks scoring each time he reached base. Will Safford (Louisiana State University) had two singles with a walk, stolen base and one RBI. Andrew Baumgart (North Dakota State University) started the game throwing five innings with eight strikeouts and Dylan Matela (Georgia State University) closed the game throwing 3.2 innings with nine strikeouts.
Mankato MoonDogs 11, Waterloo Bucks 5
The Mankato MoonDogs are now in the win column as they defeat the Waterloo Bucks 11-5. The MoonDogs struck first, scoring their first five runs in the first inning. Boston Merila (University of Minnesota) started the game off with a lead off single. Merila had three hits and a stolen base scoring three times he reached base. John Newman Jr. (University of California, Santa Barbara) had the second hit of the game going two for four at the plate with three stolen bases. Sean Ross (Indiana State University) had two singles with three RBI and a stolen base. Kai Roberts (University of Utah) drove in the last run of the game, his second double of the night.
Bismarck Larks 8, Rochester Honkers 3
The Bismarck Larks take the first game of the series against the Rochester Honkers 8-3. The Larks scored five runs in the first inning with a grand slam by Jake Hjelle (University of Minnesota-Crookston). Hjelle went two for four with four RBI. Aaron Mann (Drury University) had the second home run of the game in the top of the fifth for his second hit of the night. Morgan Mccloud (Texas Wesleyan University) had the win on the mound throwing the first five innings with four strikeouts giving up only one hit.
Traverse City Pit Spitters 14, Battle Creek Battle Jacks 13
The Traverse City Pit Spitters continue to work their way to the top of the Great Lakes East as they defeat the Battle Creek Battle Jacks 14-13. As the Pit Spitters entered the top of the 11th inning Dallas Durate (University of Hawaii) drove in the final run of the game. Durante had one hit, a walk and two RBI. Jakob Marsee (Central Michigan University) led the offense with three hits including a double and two singles. Anthony Ramirez (California State University, Stanislaus) closed the game with seven strikeouts in three innings.
Madison Mallards 13, Rockford Rivets 7
The Madison Mallards took down the Rockford Rivets 13-7 for the first win of the series. The Mallards struck first, scoring four runs in the top of the first inning with an RBI double by Josh Caron (University of Nebraska), RBI single by Payton Smith (Georgia Gwinnett College) and a home run by Christian Rivera (Erskine College). Caron had three hits and two walks. Smith had two hits with two RBI. Rivera had two hits with a walk scoring each time he reached base. The Mallards generated 16 hits with four stolen bases.
