After Friday night’s games five teams swept their series. The La Crosse Loggers had an explosive night with the bats scoring eight runs in the sixth inning to split their series against the Eau Claire Express. The St.Cloud Rox also continued their success as they bounced back to earn their tenth win of the second half of the season. The Willmar Stingers are having a great second half as they won their ninth game with an outstanding performance by Joey Walls who had two home runs and five RBI on the night.
Battle Creek Battle Jacks 8, Kalamazoo Growlers 7
The Battle Creek Battle Jacks bounced back to split the series against the Kalamazoo Growlers 8-7. Down by two runs going into the ninth inning the Jacks scored three runs with a double by Joey Grabanski (Concordia University Nebraska) and an RBI single by Robbie Merced (Central Methodist University). Grabanski and Merced both had two hits on the night, scoring as they reached base. Jace Matkin (Madonna University) contributed to the offense with four RBI including one hit and a stolen base. The Battle Jacks combined for 11 hits to take the win.
Traverse City Pit Spitters 12, Lakeshore Chinooks 3
The Traverse City Pit Spitters stay hot to take the series against the Lakeshore Chinooks 12-3. The Pit Spitters scored six runs in the fourth inning to secure their lead. Marshall Toole (Wofford College) led the team going three for five at the plate with two RBI. Brennen Dorighi (University of Iowa) scored the first runs of the game with a double to center field. Dorighi had two hits with three RBI scoring once as he reached base. Morgan Lunceford (University of San Diego) earned the win on the mound throwing the first five innings with four strikeouts allowing only one run to score.
Green Bay Rockers 5, Madison Mallards 3
The Green Bay Rockers rallied back to take the series against the Madison Mallards 5-3. Chase Hudson (Texas Christian University) blasted a two run home run in the top of the eighth to take the lead. Tristin Garcia (Western Kentucky) and Griffin Stevens (Tiffin University) both had two hits each to lead their team with Garcia driving in the first run for the Rockers. Rashad Ruff (Coppin State University) earned the win throwing the last 2.2 innings giving up only one hit. The Rockers won their third game in a row with nine hits and zero errors on the field.
Wausau Woodchucks 8, Kenosha Kingfish 2
The Wausau Woodchucks defeated the Kenosha Kingfish 8-2 to split the series. Zach Levenson (University of Miami) drove in the first run of the game with a single to right field. Levenson had two hits with one RBI and a stolen base. Ben Abernathy (West Virginia University) had three singles on the night with a stolen base scoring twice. Ryan Sepede (Brigham Young University) led the team with two doubles and three RBI. Chase Hug (University of Evansville) had the only triple of the night in the third inning to bring in one run. Nick Marshall (West Texas A&M University) threw three innings with five strikeouts giving up one hit to earn the win on the mound.
Willmar Stingers 10, Rochester Honkers 7
The Willmar Stingers earn their ninth run of the second half of the season to split the series against the Rochester Honkers 10-7. The Stingers scored six runs in the top of the eleven inning to take the lead. With two RBI singles by Aidan Byrne (Minnesota State University, Mankato) and Brett Bateman (University of Minnesota), Joey Walls (California State University, Long Beach) ended the 11th inning with a three run home run. Walls reached base four times with two hits and two walks including two home runs and five RBI. Byrne also reached base four times with three hits, a walk and one RBI. Logan Samuels (University of Montevallo) was the starting pitcher throwing 5.1 innings with six strikeouts.
La Crosse Loggers 14, Eau Claire Express 5
With an explosive sixth inning the La Crosse Loggers split the series against the Eau Claire Express 14-5. The Loggers struck first, scoring two runs in the bottom of the first inning with a home run by Ronald Sweeny III (University of Minnesota). The Loggers advanced their lead scoring eight runs in the sixth inning. Aidan Sweatt (University of North Florida) led the team with three hits and two RBI. Carson Hornung (University of South Carolina) had four walks on the night with one RBI scoring twice as he reached base. Blaise Priester (Louisiana State University) contributed to the offense with two hits and two RBI. Chase Chatman (Florida SouthWestern State College) earned Northwoods League Pitcher of the Night, throwing seven innings with nine strikeouts.
Mankato MoonDogs 5, Minnesota Mud Puppies 0
The Mankato MoonDogs swept the series as they defeated the Minnesota Mud Puppies 5-0. Donovan Schultz (University of Evansville) was the starting pitcher throwing 7.1 innings with six strikeouts giving up one hit to earn the win. Kai Roberts (University of Utah) led the offense with three hits including a triple, one RBI and a stolen base. Adam Stevens (Vanguard University) had two hits with a single and a double. The MoonDogs generated six hits with zero errors to take the win.
Rockford Rivets 11, Kokomo Jackrabbits 6
Rockford won their seventh game of the second half of the season as they swept the Kokomo Jackrabbits 11-6. Matthew Mebane (South Georgia State College) led the Rivets with two doubles, three RBI and one walk. Nick Demarco (Notre Dame) scored the first run of the game with a home run in the bottom of the first inning. Jeffrey Ince (Louisiana Tech University) and Dustin Allen (University of San Diego) both had two hits with two RBI by Allen. Miguel Reyes Jr (University of New Mexico) was the starting pitcher throwing 5.1 innings with four strikeouts giving up two hits to earn the win. The pitching staff combined for ten strikeouts and the offense tallied 12 hits to take the victory.
Fond du Lac Dock Spiders 2, Wisconsin Rapids Rafters 1
The Fond du lac Dock Spiders split the series in a ten inning game against the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters 2-1. With two outs in the bottom of the tenth inning Evan Smith (West Virginia University) crushed a double to walk off the game. Smith had two hits with one stolen base on the night. Branden Comia (University of Illinois) had two hits with a home run scoring the first run of the game for the Rafters. David Hagaman (West Virginia University) was the starting pitcher throwing five innings with five strikeouts giving up one hit. Garner Spolijaric (Embry Riddle Aeronautical University) earned the win throwing the last two innings with four strikeouts.
Duluth Huskies 7, Waterloo Bucks 6
The Duluth Huskies won their third game in a row as they defeated the Waterloo Bucks 7-6. The Huskies scored their first three runs in the second inning with an RBI single by Jared Mettam (Saint Mary’s College). Mettam had two hits with a walk, scoring once as he reached base. Devin Hurdle (University Nebraska Omaha) had two hits with a double and two RBI. Kristian Campbell (Georgia Tech) led the offense with three hits, two RBI and one stolen base. Isaac Rohde (Clarke University) had the win on the mound throwing two innings with one strikeouts allowing zero runs to score.
St.Cloud Rox 6, Bismarck Larks 5
The St.Cloud Rox won their tenth game of the second half of the season as they took down the Bismarck Larks 6-5 to split the series. The Rox scored three runs in the second inning with two RBI singles by Trevor Austin (Mercer University) and Will Worthington (University of San Diego). Austin reached base three times with two hits, a walk and one RBI. Carson Keithley (Texas State University) had two hits with one RBI and a stolen base scoring once as he reached base. Jacob Moskowitz (University of Central Missouri) came into the game in the fourth inning to throw 2.2 innings with four strikeouts.
