The Traverse City Pit Spitters are having an outstanding second half of their season leading the Great Lakes East with 13 wins. The Pit Spitters currently have a three game wins streak as they swept the Kokomo Jackrabbits. The Willmar Stingers also continued their stride winning their third game in a row with 12 victories in the second half of the season. Chase Hug and Matt Scannell both had outstanding nights at the plate with three home runs each.
Rockford Rivets 5, Kalamazoo Growlers 1
The Rockford Rivets bounced back to take game two of the series against the Kalamazoo Growlers 5-1. The Rivets scored three runs in the first inning on an RBI single by Dustin Allen (University of San Diego) and Giovany Lorenzo (University of Tampa). Allen had one hit with two RBI. Brandon Bannon (University of Illinois at Springfield) led the team with two hits, an RBI and a stolen base. Frank Plesac (Bethel College) was the starting pitcher throwing four innings with three strikeouts giving up one hit.
Waterloo Bucks 9, Bismarck Larks 3
The Waterloo Bucks swept the series against the Bismarck Larks 9-3. The Bucks scored four runs in the fourth inning with two home runs by Karl Koerper (University of Washington) and Liam Critchett (Loyola Marymount University). Koerper had two RBI and a hit by pitch. Critchett led the offense with three hits including a double and two home runs and three RBI. Caleb Corbin (Iowa Central Community College) reached base four times with two walks, two hits scoring twice as he reached base. Blake Benson (University of the Ozarks) had a great night throwing 3.1 innings with four strikeouts giving up zero hits.
Battle Creek Battle Jacks 5, Kenosha Kingfish 4
The Battle Creek Battle Jacks rallied back to split the series against the Kenosha Kingfish 5-4. Billy Hancock (Mount Marty College) scored the first runs of the game with a single to third base. Hancock had two RBI with two walks. Dillion Kark (Michigan State University) drove in the third run of the game with a double. Charlie Rhee (San Diego State University) tied the game up with a single driving in one run. Rhee led the team with two hits and two RBI. Aj Riddle Jr (Central Methodist University) was the starting pitcher throwing six innings with seven strikeouts. The Battle Jacks had five hits with 11 strikeouts from the pitching start to earn the win.
Traverse City Pit Spitters 3, Kokomo Jackrabbits 0
The Traverse City Pit Spitters swept the Kokomo Jackrabbits 3-0 for their 13th win. The Pit Spitters scored their three runs in the first inning with a single by Marshall Toole (Wofford College). Toole had one hit with a walk. Brennen Dorighi (University of Iowa) had two walks with a stolen base, scoring once as he reached base. Avery Goldensoph (University of Michigan) was the starting pitcher throwing four innings with five strikeouts giving up two hits. Jake Mitchel (University of Richmond) closed the game throwing the last five innings with four strikeouts giving up two hits as well.
La Crosse Loggers 6, Mankato MoonDogs 3
The La Crosse Loggers split the series as they won the second game against the Mankato MoonDogs 6-3. Aidan Sweatt (University of North Florida) led the team with three hits and two stolen bases scoring twice. Xavier Casserilla (Wichita State University) reached base three times with a double, walk, hit by pitch and one RBI, scoring twice as he reached base. Eldridge Armstrong (San Diego State University) earned the win throwing the first five innings with five strikeouts. Dylan Lapic (University of Tennessee at Martin) closed the game throwing two innings with two strikeouts giving up one hit. The Loggers earned their 11th win in tonight’s victory.
Lakeshore Chinooks 3, Wisconsin Rapids Rafters 2
The Lakeshore Chinooks rallied back to take down the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters 3-2. Tony Livermore (Northwestern University) and Ty Olejnik (University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee) each had two hits with an RBI by Livermore. Michael Seegers (University of Iowa) had one hit with a walk and three stolen bases to score. Xander Rojahn (Xavier University) threw the first four innings with six strikeouts allowing only one run to score. Aidan Longwell (Kent State University) earned the win on the mound throwing one innings with two strikeouts giving up no hits. The Chinooks swept the series winning their second game in a row.
Wausau Woodchucks 13, Madison Mallards 9
The Wausau Woodchucks bounced back to split the series against the Madison Mallards 13-9. Chase Hug (University of Evansville) had a great night at the plate going five for six with three home runs and six RBI. Dwight Allen (University of Georgia) contributed to the offense with two hits including a double, triple and three RBI. The Woodchucks scored four runs in the fifth inning tallying 11 hits on the night. Ben Abernathy (West Virginia University) earned the win throwing the first six innings with three strikeouts. Carter Heninger (San Jose State University) held the Mallards throwing the last 1.2 innings with three strikeouts giving up no hits.
Green Bay Rockers 8, Fond du Lac Dock Spiders 6
For their 10th win of the second half of the season, the Green Bay Rockers split the series against the Fond du Lac Dock Spiders 8-6. The Rockers scored five runs in the third inning to take the lead with three home runs by Griffin Stevens (Tiffin University), Keniel De Leon (Long Island University – Brooklyn) and J.P Gauthier (Illinois State University). Matt Scannell (Princeton University) earned Northwoods League Player of the Night going four for four with three home runs and three RBI. Austin Vandenbrink (Murray State College) had the win on the mound throwing 3.2 innings with four strikeouts giving up two hits.
Waterloo Bucks 6, Bismarck Larks 5
The Waterloo Bucks won their second game of the day against the Bismarck Larks 6-5. The Bucks rallied to score three runs in the top of the ninth inning to take the lead. Clayton Gray (Austin Peay State University) led the offense with three hits, an RBI and a stolen base. Liam Critchett (Loyola Marymount University) reached base twice with a double, walk and one RBI. Anthony Pron (Stevens Institute of Technology) threw the first five innings with six strikeouts. Jarrett Ramer (Upper Iowa University) earned the win throwing the last two innings giving up one hit. With today’s victories the Bucks have won three games in a row.
St.Cloud Rox 5, Duluth Huskies 3
The St.Cloud Rox swept the series against the Duluth Huskies 5-3. Ike Mezzenga (North Iowa Area Community College) led the offense with three hits including two doubles and two RBI. Brice Matthews (University of Nebraska) also had two doubles to reach base with an RBI. Kaden Krowka (Tarleton State University) had a great night on the mound throwing the first five innings with five strikeouts giving up two hits and allowing zero runs to score. The Rox had 10 hits on the night with zero errors on the field to win their 11th game of the second half of the season.
