The Northwoods League featured an eight game slate this Tuesday evening that including many exhilarating ball games and upsets to conclude the day. The Fond du Lac Dock Spiders upset the Green Bay Rockers in an eleven inning matchup to split the series 1-1 this week. The Dock Spiders tallied three runs on seven hits, scoring the go ahead run in the bottom of the eleventh to secure the win. The Willmar Stingers also had an extra inning battle defeat against the Minnesota Mud Puppies, walking it off in the bottom of the tenth to win the game 5-4.
La Crosse 5, Waterloo 9
The Waterloo Bucks split the series 1-1 against the Waterloo Bucks after defeating them 9-5 Tuesday afternoon. The Bucks earned their tenth win on the season.
Christian Smith (Illinois) went 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs scored, leading the Bucks offense this evening. Cole Hill (Stephen F. Austin St) and Brandon Fish (Massachusetts – Lowell) each tallied two RBI on the day. Ben Gallaher (Eastern Illinois) went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run scored. Will Casel (Reinhardt) earned the win throwing 1 inning – allowed two hits, one run, and one walk.
Wisconsin 5, Traverse City 4
The Traverse City Pit Spitters drop game two against the Wisconsin Rapid Rafters, losing 5-4 in the extra inning matchup. The Rapid Rafters
Jack Gurevitch (San Diego) went 2-for-4 with a double, one RBI, and one run scored. Shane Taylor (Utah Tech) tallied three RBI after blasting a three run homer in the top of the seventh. Julian Tristan (Westcliff University) earned the win throwing 1 inning and allowed three hits and two walks.
Green Bay 2, Fond du Lac 3
The Fond du Lac Dock Spiders defeated the Green Bay Rockers 3-2 in eleven innings to get the series split Tuesday night. The Dock Spiders earned their tenth win of the season.
Seth Sweet-Chick (Nevada – Reno) went 2-for-3 with an RBI double and one run scored. Jake Surane (Wisconsin – Oshkosh) and Connor Cooney (College of the Holy Cross) each tallied one RBI on the night. Zach Silfies (Elizabethtown College) came in relief for the Dock Spiders throwing 3 scoreless innings with zero walks and four strikeouts.
Mankato 5, St. Cloud 9
The St. Cloud Rox won the series against the Mankato MoonDogs this week after winning game two 9-5 Tuesday evening. The Rox are in second place with a 17-11 record in the Great Plains West division.
Kyle Jackson (Kent St) went 2-for-4 with two double, three RBI, and one run scored. Carson Keithley (Texas St) tallied two RBI with a single earlier on in the game. Jackson Hauge (Minnesota St – Mankato) went 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored. Alex Ramos (Golden West College) earned the win on the mound after throwing 3 innings and allowed three hits, one runs, zero walks, and one strikeout. Ryan Chmielewski (Southwest Minnesota St) got the start allowing three hits and struck out five in 3 innings thrown.
Thunder Bay 0, Eau Claire 7
The Eau Claire Express win in a shutout game against the Thunder Bay Border Cats Tuesday evening. The Express scored seven runs on nine hits to defeat Thunder Bay 7-0 in game two.
Cort MacDonald (Stanford) went 1-for-2 with two walks and two RBI on the night. Nate Witte (Wisconsin – Eau Claire) went 2-for-3 with an RBI double and two runs scored. Cory Ronan (Hawaii) earned the win on the mound for the Express throwing 5 scoreless innings and allowed only one hit and two walks – striking out four in his outing.
Bismarck 10, Minot 4
The Bismarck Larks swept the series 2-0 against the Minot Hot Tots Tuesday evening winning 10-4. The Larks rank fourth in the Great Plains West with a 13-15 record on the season.
Jake Simons (California St – Northridge) went 4-for-5 with a home run, five RBI, and one run scored. Benjamin Rosengard (Rice) went 2-for-3 with a walk and two runs scored. Nick Oakley (California – Santa Barbara) was 2-for-4 with an RBI and three runs scored. Carter Rost (Cumberland University) earned the win throwing 6 innings and allowed four hits, two runs, zero walks, and struck out seven batters.
Kokomo 5, Kenosha 7
The Kenosha Kingfish swept the Kokomo Jackrabbits after defeating them 7-5 Tuesday evening. The Kingfish are now 15-14 on the season.
Vytas Valincius (Illinois – Chicago) and Camden Janik (Illinois) each went 2-for-3 combining for two runs and one RBI. Bobby Atkinson (Heartland Community College) drove in two RBI with a double this evening. Greg Martinez (Louisiana Tech) earned the win throwing 5 innings – allowed seven hits, one run, two walks, and struck out three.
Minnesota 4, Willmar 5
The Willmar Stingers defeat Minnesota in another ten inning battle Tuesday evening and earned the series sweep early on this week. The Stingers lead the Great Plains division with twenty two wins.
Tyler Bryan (Northwest St) earned the win throwing 1 inning of relief and allowing only one run, one walk, and three strikeouts. Ray Cebulski (Point Loma Nazarene) got the start on the mound and struck out six while Alex Clemons (South Dakota St) game in relief striking out four batters. Kasten Furr knocked a two run home run in the bottom of the seventh to tie the game 4-4. Scott Anderson (Point Loma Nazarene) and Kevin Fitzer (California St – Northridge) each tallied an RBI of their own.
