Rox Begin Second Half with Loss to Kenosha

 

Kenosha, WI- The St. Cloud Rox fell 14-3 Wednesday night to the Kenosha Kingfish, opening their second half of the season with a loss after finishing 19-16 in the first half. The Rox collected seven hits as a team recorded by six different players, but could not cross the plate until the final two innings, where they scored all three of their runs.

Four different Rox pitchers saw action Wednesday night for St. Cloud, as Tim Faix took the loss (1-1) after going 4.1 innings and allowing seven runs and five hits. Tyler Peitzmeier then came in to record the final two outs in the fifth and Trevor Jaunich retired the side in the sixth while striking out two in the process.

The Rox tallied their first run of the game in the eighth off an RBI single from Harrison Wenson to score Clay Ardeeser, before the Kingfish collected five runs in the bottom of the eighth off St. Cloud reliever Troy Whitty. The Rox added two more in the ninth with an RBI single from Morgan Phillips and a bases loaded walk to Liam Bedford, but Kenosha reliever Connor Kelly got out of the inning to end the game with a final score of 14-3.

Ardeeser finished the night 2-for-3 along with two runs scored for the Rox and Chris Paul singled in the eighth inning, giving him a hit in six of the last seven games.

After finishing the two-game series tomorrow night in Kenosha, the Rox will travel to Green Bay for another two-game series beginning July 4th before ending their road trip in Rochester for one game on July 6th. The Rox will next be at home on July 7th against the Rochester Honkers, which is Hot Dog Hundo Night, where fans will have the opportunity to win numerous prizes and up to $100 just for purchasing a hot dog, presented by McDonald’s Meats.
