Green Bay, WI- Reese Gregory continued his winning ways Saturday night as the Rox offense pounded out 13 hits to split the two-game series with the Green Bay Bullfrogs 7-1 at Joannes Stadium. The win gives the Rox their first victory of the second half, as eight different players recorded hits for St. Cloud while Gregory and reliever Tyler Peitzmeier held the Bullfrogs to just five hits in the process.
The Rox got the scoring going early by tallying one run apiece in the first two innings, the first coming with Chris Paul’s RBI double to score Eric Loxtercamp and the other coming in the second inning off a sacrifice fly from Bradley Strong to score Liam Bedford. Those two scores proved enough of a lead for Gregory to work with in the starting role, as he threw six innings while giving up one run on four hits and striking out five, moving his record to 4-1 and his ERA to 1.45 on the season.
The Rox went on to score five more runs throughout the rest of the game, as Kade Scivicque belted his third home run of the season in the eighth inning and Seth Heck finished 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored. Scivicque finished the evening 2-for-4 after his late-inning home run, and Liam Bedford and Harrison Wenson each added two hits apiece as the Rox finished with 13 total in the victory.
Peitzmeier came on to relieve Gregory in the seventh inning with a 6-1 lead, and proceeded to give up just two base runners in the last three innings to earn his first save of the year as the Rox held on for the victory after falling to the Bullfrogs last night, bringing their record to 1-3 in the second half.
