The St. Cloud Rox will be sending three players to the 2014 Northwoods League All-Star Game as pitchers Reese Gregory and Kevin Burgee, and infielder Chris Paul are among 51 players selected to participate.
This year’s All-Star game will be played at Kapco Park in Mequon, Wis. and the festivities will kick off on Monday, July 21st with the game being played on Tuesday, July 22nd at 6:45 p.m.
Gregory will be making his second consecutive All-Star appearance for the Rox, as his current numbers rank among the tops in the league in almost all pitching categories. Gregory is the league leader in strikeouts (41) and ERA (1.45) while beginning the season with a 4-1 record as he has started in six games and allowed just six earned runs in 37.1 innings pitched. He has also given up just five extra-base hits in that span, held his opponents to a .159 clip at the plate and currently owns a WHIP of 0.91.
Burgee has taken on the closing role for the Rox this season, collecting five saves in the process with a 4-2 record and a 3.24 ERA. He has thrown 16.2 innings so far in 2014 with 14 appearances and has struck out 22 batters while walking just two.
Paul is in his third year with the squad but will be making his first All-Star appearance as he is currently hitting .310 (45-for-145) in 2014 with a team-leading 11 doubles, six home runs and 28 runs scored while also leading the squad in slugging (.524). He has also totaled 28 RBIs this season, holds an OBP of .402 and has played in 40 of St. Cloud’s first 45 games.
