St. Cloud, MN – The St. Cloud Rox could not stop the offense of the Waterloo Bucks Wednesday night as the Rox were defeated 11-4 at Joe Faber Field. Though the Rox posted all four of their runs in the final three innings, it was not enough to erase the deficit posted by the Bucks, who scored seven runs in the fourth and three more in the sixth to put the game away early as they outhit the Rox 16-11.
Offensively, the Rox tallied eight of their 11 hits from three different players, as Eric Loxtercamp and Clay Ardeeser each went for three hits and Mitchell Kranson added two. Loxtercamp also scored a run and knocked in a run as he has now recorded three hits in each of the last four games.
Nick McCarty took the loss (3-2) on the mound for the Rox, as he held the Bucks to one run in the first three innings before allowing seven in the fourth while reliever Trevor Charpie came on to record the final out in the inning. Charpie threw two innings after that and allowed three runs in the sixth to give the Bucks an 11-0 lead. Tyler Peitzmeier then threw the final three innings for the Rox and halted the Waterloo scoring while fanning four and allowing just two hits as his season ERA is now 0.96.
The Rox got two runs back in the bottom of the seventh after Harrison Wenson walked with the bases loaded and Loxtercamp singled with two outs to give St. Cloud their first two runs of the game. They added their final two in the ninth when Ardeeser singled to score Loxtercamp and Peitzmeier, and give the Rox four runs in the game.
