St. Cloud, MN – Nick Jensen-Clagg pitched seven innings and struck out 11 batters for the St. Cloud Rox Tuesday Night but the Rox could not scratch a run across as they fell to the Rochester Honkers 2-0 at Joe Faber Field. In his seven-inning span in the starting role, Jensen-Clagg (0-3) allowed just one earned run and five hits which earned him Northwoods League Pitcher of the Night honors as he battled with Rochester starter Michael Freeman throughout the first seven innings.
The Rox (14-12, 33-28) totaled just two hits in the game, coming from back-to-back singles in the third inning from Morgan Phillips and Eric Loxtercamp, which brings Loxtercamp’s on-base streak to 23 games. The Honkers broke open the scoreless tie in the fifth inning with an RBI single from Reid Roper to give them their only run scored off Jensen-Clagg in the contest.
Tyler Peitzmeier threw the last two innings of relief for the Rox and allowed one run on three hits, all coming in the eighth inning as Blaise Lezynski singled to score Roper and make it 2-0. The Rox had the tying run at the plate in the final inning but could not come up with a hit as the Honkers took the victory.
