As the St. Cloud Rox wrapped up their 2014 campaign this weekend with the most wins in team history, they received two more accolades Sunday as second baseman Chris Paul and pitcher Reese Gregory were named to the 2014 Northwoods League Postseason All-Star Team. The two joined the likes of 29 other players in the Northwoods League to be named to the All-Star team, as both were also named to the All-Star Game played three weeks ago in Mequon, Wis.
Gregory put together one of the finest pitching displays in all of the Northwoods League this season as he led the league in ERA (1.70) and strikeouts (71) while owning a 7-2 record in 11 starts. He also pitched a total of 69 innings on the season, allowed just 50 hits and 13 earned runs while walking 16 batters.
Paul was near the top in most offensive categories for the Rox this season as he finished with a .321 batting average (75-for-234) along with 16 doubles, eight home runs and 38 RBIs while playing in 60 games for the Rox.
Along with the Postseason All-Star team, Pete Alonso of the Madison Mallards was named the Most Valuable Player by the Northwoods League while Matt Kent of Rochester and Ryan Smoyer of Kalamazoo were named Co-Pitchers of the of the Year.
Eddy Morgan picked up Manager of the Year accolades after leading Lakeshore to the best overall record in the Northwoods League.
