During the 2014 season the St. Cloud Rox teamed up with fans and corporate partners by putting a strong emphasis on giving back to Central Minnesota organizations by raising over $19,500 and making numerous community appearances.
Throughout the summer Rox staff, coaches and players spent time visiting many local nursing homes, libraries, summer camps getting to know fans of all ages in the St. Cloud area. Making over 50 community appearances for a second straight season, totaling over 700 combined hours, the Rox shared experiences with fans, read books to children, and even offered baseball instruction at several baseball clinics.
For the third consecutive year, the Rox partnered with the St. Cloud Times for “Community Spotlight Night” which allowed local non-profit organizations the opportunity to be featured in front of Rox fans by setting up displays and sharing information throughout the night.
Two new promotional nights were added for the 2014 season which helped raise money for charitable organizations through jersey auctions. On June 8th the Rox partnered with Center for Diagnostic Imaging for “Pink in the Park Night” where the team wore special edition pink jerseys. A silent auction for the jerseys raised $1,850 for American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer. The Rox also teamed up with Firehouse Subs for “Guns and Hoses Night” on July 9th. The night was dedicated to local law enforcement officials and fire fighters and helped raise nearly $2,000 for the Public Safety Foundation through a silent auction of game worn red jerseys.
“All of the Rox community contributions are only possible because of the gracious Rox fans and corporate partners. Without them a strong community involvement isn’t possible. A big thank goes out to our great fans and corporate partners,” said Rox Vice President Scott Schreiner
During the spring of 2014, the Rox partnered with Central Minnesota Credit Union for the Rox Reading Program. The program encouraged over 10,000 students in 450 classrooms throughout Central Minnesota to read outside of school. Children that successfully completed the program received tickets to select Rox games during the 2014 season.
In total, the Rox helped contribute to over 125 non-profit organizations and charity events through donations leading up to and during the 2014 season.
