St. Cloud, MN – St. Cloud Rox Field Manager Augie Rodriguez will now be working for the St. Cloud Rox and Major League Baseball’s Cincinnati Reds. Rodriguez has been hired as an Associate Major League scout for the Red and will be scouting players in the Upper Midwest. Rodriguez will continue to be the Field Manager of the St. Cloud Rox. He is currently working with the Rox front office assembling the roster for 2015. Rodriguez is the only Field Manager that the Rox have had since their inaugural season in 2012. He has 102 career wins as the Rox Field Manager and has also coached at the collegiate level with Augusta State and Paine College in Georgia. He played six years of professional baseball starting with the Seattle Mariners who invited him to spring training in 2003, along with spending two seasons playing in the Puerto Rican Major Winter League and a season in the European Major League.
“I’m very happy that Augie has been given this well-deserved opportunity with the Reds, I’m also excited for our players because they’ll have a Cincinnati Reds scout watching them at every game right from their own dugout. I think Augie’s affiliation with the Reds will just add to the list of why players are attracted to playing in St. Cloud, in addition having Augie’s database of players is only going to help our recruiting efforts,” said Rox Vice President Scott Schreiner. Under Rodriguez the Rox have had 20 players get drafted by Major League teams.
The Rox home opener versus the Thunder Bay Border Cats is Saturday, May 30th at Joe Faber Field. Season and group tickets for the 2015 season are currently available by contacting the Rox ticket office at (320) 240-9798.
