St. Cloud, MN – The St. Cloud Rox announced today the signing of three players for the 2015 season.  The list includes catchers Austin Athmann and Brett Cumberland along with pitcher Erik Martinez.

Athmann, a sophomore at the University of Minnesota, is a Cold Spring native and was a standout high school player for Rocori High School where graduated from in 2013.  Last season he saw action in 27 games for the Gophers.  Athmann split time between catcher and designated hitter while batting .277 on the season with a .344 on base percentage.  Following the season he was named to the All-Big Ten Freshman Team.

Cumberland is a freshman at the University of California, Berkeley.  The switch hitting catcher from Turlock, California was a three-time all-conference team member.  During his senior season at Turlock High School where he hit .410, he was named the District Player of the Year.  Cumberland spent last summer with the Klamath Falls Gems of the West Coast League.

Martinez is also a freshman at the University of California, Berkeley.  He is a right-handed pitcher from West Covina, California where posted a 1.95 ERA during his senior season.  He earned first-team All-Sierra League honors and was also an Academic All-League selection.

Cumberland and Martinez join the long list of players from the University of California, Berkeley to play for St. Cloud including most recently two-time team MVP and Northwoods League All-Star Chris Paul who played for the Rox from 2012-2014.      

Field Manager Augie Rodriguez, as well as the Rox organization will continue to build the roster for the 2015 season

The Rox home opener is Saturday, May 30^th at Joe Faber Field as the Rox take on the Thunder Bay Border Cats at 7:05p.m.  There will be a post-game fireworks show presented by Coborn’s.
