Despite trailing by as many as 6 in the game, and again by 2 heading into the 9th inning, the St. Cloud Rox rallied to defeat the Green Bay Bullfrogs by a final score of 14-11.
The Rox got a run in the first inning to continue their streak of three straight games with a run in the 1st, but things quickly went south as they trailed by 6 after 2 innings in Green Bay.
Trailing 7-1 at bat in the top of the third, the Rox quickly regained the lead after they matched their season high for runs in an inning with 7. Jake Farr and Connor Crane both hit 2-run homeruns in the 3rd, and timely two out hitting gave the Rox a 1 run lead. They continued to hold on to a 8-7 lead up until the 5th inning, when the Bullfrogs tied it with a run of their own.
It was back and forth the rest of they way, until the Rox found themselves up to bat in the top of the 9th inning, trailing 11-9. After Kyle Serrano, Toby Hanson and Josh Altmann scored to give the Rox a 12-11 lead, Austin Athmann broke things open with a 2 run double with 2 outs to extend the lead to 14-11.
Brian Glowicki was on the mound for the Rox in the 9th to close things down, as they took game one of the series with Green Bay by a final score of 14-11.
The Rox will be in action again tomorrow night here in Green Bay, for game two against the Bullfrogs at 6:35 PM. Tune in for your coverage live on AM 1390 The Fan, or 1390thefan.com
