St. Cloud, Minn. – The St. Cloud Rox defeated the Duluth Huskies 5-4 Tuesday night. It was the fourth annual Bark in the Park night, which brought in a crowd of 1,614 humans and 115 canine Rox fans.

Reese Gregory (St. Cloud State) started on the mound for the Rox and went 5.2 innings, striking out five batters and the win. Brett DeGagne (University of North Dakota) took over at the end of the fifth inning and pitched two innings, striking out five batters, allowing no hits and no runs. Trevor Charpie (Saddleback Community College) came into the game at the end of the eighth inning and recorded his league leading sixth save of the season.

The Huskies scored two quick runs in the top of the first inning but Gregory settled down and the Rox battled back for the win. Webb Bobo (Southeastern Louisiana University) started the Rox scoring in the bottom of the second inning when he scored on a Brett Pope (Western Carolina University) sacrifice fly.

The Rox would then score in the bottom of the fourth inning when a Brandon Benson (Georgia College) walk with the bases full scored Connor Crane (McNeese State) to tie the game 2-2.

The offense for the Rox opened up in the bottom of the fifth inning when they scored three runs. The scoring began when Crane hustled out a ground ball, which resulted in a fielder’s choice that scored Michael Strem (Boston College). Crane would then score on a throwing error after Lee Miller (Davidson College) laid down a bunt. Bobo then drove in Miller with a single to cap off the scoring for the Rox.

With a single tonight, Michael Strem extends his on-base streak to 22 straight games.

With the win tonight the Rox are one game out of first place in the North Division, trailing only the Willmar Stingers.

The next Rox game will be tomorrow night as they once again host the Huskies at 7:05 p.m. Gates at Joe Faber Field will open at 6:05 p.m. for fans. Tomorrow will be Princess Night, meet your favorite Disney Princesses presented by IRET Properties.
