St. Cloud, Minn. – The St. Cloud Rox defeated the Eau Claire Express 6-2 Friday night at the Rock Pile.
Domenick Carlini (Southeastern Louisiana University) was the starting pitcher for the Rox and threw a strong seven innings, striking out five batters, scattering eight hits and only allowing one earned run.
New Rox reliever Collin Strall (Louisiana State University) came in for Carlini in the seventh inning and worked out of bases loaded situation and struck out his first batter of his Rox career. Brian Glowicki (University of Minnesota) took over in the ninth inning striking out two batters.
The Rox offense was started by Connor Crane (McNeese State) who doubled in Jake Farr (Tennessee Tech) in the first inning, Crane then went on to steal third base. Liam Bedford (Doane College) then drove in Crane with a fielder’s choice.
In the seventh inning Brett Pope (Western Carolina University) drove in Brandon Benson (Georgia College) with a single then Pope came in on an Express error.
Benson would drive in the final runs for the Rox in the eighth inning when he drove a single to leftfield that was bobbled by the Express leftfielder that allowed Michael Strem (Boston College) and Webb Bobo (Southeastern Louisiana University) to score.
Strem extended his on-base streak to 24 games after drawing a walk in the first inning.
The next Rox game will be tomorrow night as they host the Alexandria Blue Anchors at 6:05 p.m. Gates at Joe Faber Field will open at 5:05 p.m. for fans.
